Any loser can jump onto a winning team's bandwagon but there's no real emotional connection with their teams the way there is with the authentic fans of a team that stick with their team through thick & thin. I say this as a longsuffering Bengals fan from Southwest Ohio and despite it all, I feel no affiliation or affection for any other team and it's always been that way & always will be no matter how bad the Bengals are. Even during the 90s when the Bengals had 10+ non-winning seasons in a row, I knew jumping on another team's bandwagon was pointless because I'd not experience the same emotional attachment & highs & lows as I did with the Bengals, so what would be the point?. Bandwagon fans that simply pick a winner to "root" for will never really understand. Any idiot living in Michigan can root for the Packers, but they don't even live in the same state. What's the connection, other than they're a winning team someone adopted because they can't stand rooting for a team that doesn't win very often? One of my best friends is from Arizona, lives in Illinois, & roots for the Steelers. Pfffftttt. It's easy to pick a winner to root for but real fans have a reason they root for a team other than "they win & my home-team doesn't, so I'm rooting for this other team!" Even rooting for a team because you simply like their uniforms is a better reason than just saying "they win a lot so I'm rooting for them..." Good luck to Lions fans, hope your future is brighter than the past has been for you, but regardless, you're REAL fans, win or lose, & bandwagon fans of other teams will never understand what that's really like.
