🥔🥔🥔 The first time I tried the skin of a potato was at Cracker Barrel. They bake their potatoes wrapped in foil, but the potato itself is coated on the outside with butter and coarse kosher salt. It is awesome! However, until I ate there, I never even thought of eating the skin, it just never occurred to me to try. I couldn't get over how much Flavor the skins had, I was hooked immediately. A simple meal for me is one of their baked potatoes smothered in butter, a bowl of their cream of broccoli soup and a slice of French bread. Yum! 🥔🥣🥦🥖🧈 Enjoyed the gentleman's reactions as always! 🩵

I think for the most part these have bacon. I wonder if they could get the bacon bits meant for salads where they are. There are several brands that are vegan. I don't know if they still taste the same, but the one I remember eating ages ago tasted the most like pork bacon out of any vegetarian, turkey etc bacon. To the point that when I was a vegetarian in the early 90's, I made bacon bit BLTs. Worse than Captain Crunch on the roof of the mouth if you didn't let them soften up 🤣

If I want a quick dinner, I microwave a "baked potato". I steam some broccoli, grate some cheddar cheese. I cut a big russet potato (skin on!) in half lengthwise, microwave until cooked through, put one half on a plate skin side down, fluff with a fork, then put some butter, a bit of salt and pepper on it. I add a few chives or chopped green onion next. Then dump my chopped, cooked broccoli on top of that. Sprinkle a generous amount of cheese over it, nuke it just to melt cheese a bit, and eat with either sour cream or plain yogurt. Yum. Eat the potato skin....it has the most nutrients.

A great simple but unique western snack to share with them. Similar but different (a little more work to prepare) is the twice baked potato, where the insides of baked potato are removed, loaded with all sorts of ingredients like sour cream, cheese, chives, perhaps bits of bacon or some other meat, etc. and then mixed, put back in the skin, and baked again. A decent amount of work but a favorite in our household!

I assure them that many Western ladies have ruled their households by having a good understanding of the loaded baked potato.

I love potato skins, glad these gentlemen did too! I really like them with a sour cream dip. I honest think potatoes are just about the best food in the world - there's so much you can do with them!

I love them too. I need to lose weight though, and cutting some carbs works best for me. I don't count them like I did years ago on Atkins, so I'm sure I could plan them in a meal every so often. I lost (and re-found lol) 70+ pounds years ago. I don't remember how I managed to survive without potatoes pasta and rice on a regular basis. One substitute was canned green beans in place of noodles for beef stroganoff.

😮 I hope the chefs removed the bacon. No pork. It's against their faith. I believed they mentioned such in previous videos.

@@juliey196 some bacon bits meant for salads etc are vegetarian and taste much more like pork bacon. This would have been a perfect use for them, but no idea if it's something available to them

Throw them on hot coals, in aluminum foil, for about 45 minutes to an hour. Cut them in half, add butter, salt and pepper, sour cream, and some eat with bacon as well. Loaded baked potato!

This might be the start of a new common meal where they live. Most things I get why they are new to our friends here, but this one though is very simple. Just a new way of doing something they are more familiar with.
