It's so cool to see these guys say things like how this series is so detailed, there are many aspects that most shows or movies don't show, and that the characters are all so well-developed and realistic. This is all without them being around a lot of the hype surrounding the show, so it's an honest take. It really validates how us fans feel about the show, and the reason why it was the most popular show of all time. When you write a book with such detail and care, it makes for an absolutely great TV show as well

​@@toomanyaccounts You're missing the point. I'm saying the reason GoT is such a great TV show is because they're based on books, which are already much more detailed than visual media, but especially these ones. We should have more TV shows based on deep detailed books.

@@toomanyaccounts To judge a show on its faithfulness to a book while also acknowledging that problem is the limitations of the medium seems like a sure fire way to always be disappointed. And it's also all besides the point as Nickdoe isn't judging the accuracy of the adaptation but rather the quality compared to shows that aren't based on books. Which in most cases are teams of writers making things up as they go along never planning further ahead than one season.

The show is based on a series of books written by 1 man. Some of the story is loosely based on actual history.

pretty common in the third world. look up stories of why aid workers were shocked as to why the Afghan men were puzzled as to why their village women couldn't get pregnant.

I think it was more a case of them not expecting to see that on screen, so it never occurred to them. Their cinema wouldn't show such a thing, I imagine, so it's not really in their vocabulary. But they did get it eventually. You can't expect people who are never exposed to such things to get it first time.
