Babu's maw! 😆 I remember my great-grandmother using that word years ago when I was a child, and she and my mom cracked up because of my confusion as I thought she was imitating a "country" accent and talking about a mother. 😆 I do wish Babu would eat without showing us the food in his mouth. I always have to look away. The lady seems to be the type to really take time to enjoy her food like I do. A cousin was watching me eat once and said I look like I enjoy my food because of how slowly I eat and how relaxed I look. 🤔 I told her that I take time to allow each taste bud in on the action. She and some other relatives commented that they have to rush during a short lunch break at work and unknowingly started doing it at home. I'd always been blessed with jobs that had hour long lunch breaks, and now that I work for myself, I can really set my own pace. 🙂

Is there a way to have the villagers make the simple things they enjoy, like this grilled cheese sandwich? All they would need is a hot plate, fry pan, butter, sliced bread and sliced cheese. They could go through the steps of making this and then when they go home they could actually make it themselves for others.

You can bet that some have tried to reproduce what they ate at home, most probably the ladies, who always bring the subject and always analyse food in detail to compare it to what they already know. A youngster even said he'd describe a burrito to his mother so she could make a local version for his lunches at work. Those people sure went back home with many ideas to try, and it might even end up with the next national dish of India... (Marco Polo went back to Italy from China with rice noodles recipe. No rice in Italy, let's try wheat.... PASTA)

The "grill" marks are 1 of 2 things. 1) Using a "grill" which is a horzontal set of parallel metal bars, on top of which the thing sets, and a fire or heating element is underneath to cook it. Typically, we'd call this a "barbecue grill" in America, and you'll be found commonly in campgrounds, or as part of "barbecues" that people would have in their back yards to grill hamburgers, hot dogs, etc., either using charcoal, wood, or gas (propane, typically). 2) Using a "sandwich press" type grill, on which you lay a sandwich (on top of an insulated heating element with a usually non-stick surface), and fold another heating element over the top. Both heating elements will typically have raised parallel ridges on them, both to keep the sandwich somewhat from sticking, and also to give the "grill" pattern like you'd get if it was cooked on a metal grate/"grill" over a fire, so it looks the same, looks "grilled."

She definitely needs to see a bread toaster so she can see how those marks are made. She is right that it is a machine, but it sounds like she thinks the marks are being printed in the bread, instead of burned by heating coils on each side in that pattern. I think both these two would enjoy seeing that it is in fact the heat itself making the marks, not a grill mark or as he says, netting.

Next, try them on grilled tuna salad sandwiches. 🙂 LOL, as usual, Babu knows everything about *everything*. But the young lady sticks to her guns. Such a beautiful outfit today! And she's right, she could easily grill sandwiches at home. You don't really need a grill. The name refers to a restaurant flat-top grill anyway. A fire, flat pan, ghee on the outside of the sandwiches, fillings. Maybe if they mashed up paneer first it'd melt in the sandwich? We use harder cheeses like cheddar here in the US for grilled cheese sandwiches, too, and they melt fine.

I still think they'd enjoy a grilled tuna and cheese sandwich. Pretty much the same thing. Except instead of corn, you'd put cheese on one slice of bread, tuna salad (drained canned tuna, mayonnaise, dill/sweet pickle relish, diced celery, all mixed together) on the other slice of bread, put the two slices together, and then grill on both sides until the cheese is melted and the outside is golden brown. Ohh, yes, and the outside should be buttered before grilling. So, like butter both slices put one slice on butter-down the grill/pan, put the tuna on, layer the cheese on, put the other slice on butter-up, then grill both sides, alternatingly, until cooked. :) Yum! Made so many of these as a kid / teen growing up!
