As a Newcastle fan who has watched all your visits to Newcastle recently 😅 I have to say you give a great account of our city and team. I was saying yesterday we needed a win here to get some consistency like you said about villa. We seem like we are turning a corner 🤞🏻 as for Durans red I thought during the game it may have been a red because of the players reactions. But again I sit in the gallowgate so it was at the other end of the pitch so I wasn’t sure. Having seen it back on match of the day I fully agree with shearer and hart it was never a red card. I’d be fuming if that was us. Anyway I will sign off like always wishing you lot all the best and success for the rest of the season. Great club great fans up the villa 💪🏻

Looking back, Duran has also been let down by his teammates, none of them look upset at the decision or challenge the ref. In football IQ terms our players are miles off, we just give the oppo a free run at the ref. Dubravka has Duran by the shirt for half a minute before (McGinn?) separates them. We have to grab the low hanging fruit that pretty much every other team does, it’s worth points over a season. Other than that, another slow start, which again is down to low football IQ. We desperately need more Ashley Young types to give us the competitive edge. Credit to the lads for keeping it to 2 for so long, along with Anfield, that’s one of the toughest games of the season. On the bright side, as bumpy as our season has been, but for 10 minutes against Forrest, we’d be 5th.

What a great vlog! I really enjoyed your matchday vlog and I'm glad you had a great, if disappointing time at SJP. Your production values are excellent, and you are a really genial host. I have subscribed to help your channel.....and I'm a Mag! Even with 11 men, you wouldn't have beaten NU today. It's because that early goal demonstrated the fear that the players had instilled in them by Emery, the fanbase and the media about this fixture. If NU were playing "let's placate Barnes-ball" like we were against Brentford (in the PL) you would have beaten us. Unfortunately for you, Eddie finally realised that winning is better than keeping someone's ego intact. We've been on fire, and Tonali now a full starter in the holding role has pushed us on to be able to score easily. In fact, the ball was won by Tonali before Gordon's goal. I used to be a pro-skater, and lived in California in the late 70s. I can tell you, even at speeds faster than running, you can rotate your body. Duran deliberately left his foot in (as you said, on the second one, and took extra steps). Players are used to collisions and this was a cynical attempt to make it look like an unfortunate incident. Now, I am fortunate from two points of view. My eldest brother was a PL official up until 1998. He was a DIv 1 referee, but only a lino in the PL, even though he'd reffed some UEFA qualifiers. Anyway, I spoke to him about Arsenal, tonight (he's a fan and we've been bantering about the Carabao Cup) . My brother said the ref had looked at the reaction of Schär, most players (like Morgan did) hold their face and roll around. Schär was holding his back, clearly in distress. The ref took time because he also looked the reaction of the Villa players, Duran and had the VAR in his ear. This is why he took the time, and yes, opposition players and the fans can influence, because he's human, but the decision was correct. VAR slowed it, and there is no rotation attempt. When his first foot landed, there is nothing Duran can do. The issue is the angle of the second and what looks like attempt to leave it on Schär's head, is the decisive factor. Now, back in 2015, I developed a system, in conjunction with a World ranked (top ten) research Uni, that issues the F1 crash safety certificates on behalf of the FIA. I was working in a different department, but the Head of the Impact centre, was a Liverpool fan, and I as a Newcastle fan, was ranting about how Salah was always diving. The head of the impact centre, and I, used to meet every Friday morning for a coffee. I was bemoaning being cheated out of a game by Salah and I said there had to be a nailed on way to prevent cheating. My eureka moment came as I stretched for the sugar, and my hand hit the salt cellar which hit the pepper pot which deflected, due to the impact: NEWTONIAN MECHANICS! I took a Masters student, contacted the Premier League (Operations Director) Sky Sports (Head of Football) and the FA. The FA were NOT interested, but the PL and Sky supported the research. Sky sent several games for analysis, one of which was a Villa game(!) There is software that is used in crash testing and to determine fault in racing incidents. It can reliably predict the forces, the direction of force and therefore blame. This is the software that was adapted to be used for football to determine impacts and whether there was a dive or not and other foul play. I named the research P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. (Prevention Of Simulation with Impact Technologies In the Verification of Error). Basically, for those who didn't do physics or science in secondary school, Newton's Three Laws of motion describe how entities move. Law 1: A body will remain at rest or in a state of constant motion, unless acted upon by an external force. Law 2: The time rate of change of momentum of a body is equal in both magnitude and direction to the force imposed upon it. Law 3: To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction In other words, if a player is running into the box, and a defender comes flying into him, the attacker will be knocked in a proportionate distance and direction to the force applied to him (LAW 2). Knowing the mass of the player and the acceleration, allows us to identify the force. The distance of the deflection, or simply, where the player lands can be predicted. It requires high speed cameras and knowing the mass (what the lay man calls weight incorrectly) but these are easily sorted through sensors in the shoes or weighing at the start and at half-time to give an excellent degree of accuracy. POSITIVE was presented to the Head of Judicial Services of the FA in 2016, when I ran into him in the lift in Wembley Stadium. (The Head of Judicial Services is the Chair of the Disciplinary Panel who has the casting vote on disciplinary action (among other responsibilities). He looked at my security pass and asked me about my brother. He was on my brother's reffing team (as a young lino) when my brother was a Div 1 ref. It wasn't just a software enabled system. My masters student had investigated biomechanical principles and plotted motions across multiple body parts, and in multiple situations from the Sky videos. She also spoke to PL Officials for their insights too. I gave the research with the proof of concept in April 2016. I used to see the Head of Judicial Services on multiple occasions, each time there was an excuse as to why no demonstration had been requested. I still haven't had a response. When VAR was introduced at the WC in Russia in 2018, I sent the materials to the Head of IFAB, whom my brother knows. It is 2024 nearly 2025 and still there hasn't been a response. This was despite support from the PL and Sky Sports Football. Ask yourself why something which is almost impossible to be wrong, hasn't been implemented alongside VAR?

The reason we are struggling isn't because we are worse than last year , it's because with the tactic we use is geared up for energy , work rate , talent to play it and confidence. We have the talent to play it , however if players lack confidence or are tired , then the work rate drops, the tactics we use , Liverpool under Klopp use and man city use , work when the team are flying , this tactic breeds confidence , however once you get a defeat here or there and a couple of players start doubting their form , or are knackered you have a problem. If you notice our passing was poor , start of the season it was working ,, we tend to play risk and reward passes , if they pay off great, if they don't, the we swarm and usually win back possession. When confidence is knocked , those risk passes become misplaced , and the swarm isn't with the same energy , which then becomes a negative tactic. Man city are a classic example of this , Peps whole philosophy is play a variant of these tactics and was successful, the players aren't worse , but they lack confidence and the squad is so small he can't trust them to rotate, plus he can't manage with any other tactic , too small a squad , players aging , no fresh blood and now confidence will see City struggle to get champions league I think , unless he buys his way out of trouble , that's the weakness of pep and these types of high press risk and reward tactics ,Pep himself has sleepwalked himself into this position. We have an advantage now over city, which showed in the win over them. Emery needs to find a way of getting the players confidence up , their fitness needs looking at and we need to trust in rotation. Even if we finish 6th this year , we are still progressing , because eventually Emery will find a 25 man squad where everyone knows this system fully , so we can rotate , Duran was actually a decent swap for Watkins who was looking leggy , I think a few others look leggy , our wing backs need resting , but I don't think Emery is confident in rotating too often. I still believe though that just because we lost today , we can't get a win in the next , tbh I haven't felt this way for decades with villa , Emery , this tactic and players, just needs belief , confidence, and they need to rest , if Emery can figure out who he can rest and trust a rotated player thn you can switch without ruining the tactic

it is a harsh card. whether intentional or not from duran it is technically studs in an area where he could get caught wrong and can lead to a bad injury. but it can be looked as a violent conduct due to where the foot landed on his back and with studs near his back. plus on the replay it looks like he swings his right leg into schar which doesnt help duran out. thats coming from a NUFC fan so I might be abit biased.
@anthonysmurthwaite6258Күн бұрын

Compare to ours which has been abject for years - last week we were playing crowd noise before the City game, fucking woeful. One other thing to add to this. Their players surround the ref in numbers. The crowd then get right onto the ref, so he now thinks he has a big decision to make. We never do this at Villa Park. We give referees an easy ride, on & off the pitch

Was a very harsh red, however, it's 'ref's call', if it were given a yellow no way in hell that would have been given as a red

Mourinho was incensed by Taylor in a euro final and I can understand why. He’s one of those refs who you know will give you nothing.

He had to get a police escort through the airport. Easy to see why.

Fair play getting up there! They may have always battered us, but we sent them down, great memories 😂

Great report on the day (Newcastle fan), wasn't sure on the sending off myself, all the best for the rest of the season, good to see different teams at the top

I love how your longest journey is 4 hours and that’s like our shortest 😂😂 never a red for Duran and hope we can both annoy the top 6 again 💪🏻💪🏻

Emery Christmas everyone! As a cartographer I love your travel map! Sorry for everyone wearing claret-colored glasses, but it was a deserved red. Duran deliberately put his boot on him. I don’t think that would have changed the outcome but it certainly sealed the deal.

We don't keep clean sheets away from home. This was another defeat waiting to happen.

Duran let a couple of decisions go to his head. If he hadn’t been sent off when he was, he would’ve been sent off later. Red Mist. He knew exactly what he was doing and ended the contest.

Can i ask you, if that tackle had been a Newcastle player on a Villa player would you have felt the same?

Duran had a bad attitude during match, which helped ref make his decision, (made ref think he lashed out)

as a Villa fan hope we can go the level of Newcastle and building up a big team like them.. they're much of a bigger club than we are and we need to have atleast 55000 to 60000 seats..

It doesn't happen overnight, the days of spending big money and buying all the best players like Chelsea and Man city did are over, we may have the richest owners but are restricted by pif. 😊You have some good players so it's just a matter of building a team around them. 😊

You are definitely not a Villa fan.

Canny watch mate, I shall put you on subscribe. I was at the game as a NUFC fan. You guys were a canny bunch. I thought you looked better when at 10 and had Tielemans on and was surprised he took off Rogers too. Took your best two players off I thought. good luck for the rest of the season and lets smash the 'Top 6' cartel!

Newcastle fan here, and it was probably a yellow. He took a minute to give the card because he'd asked VAR for confirmation on what he thought he'd seen though, not because he was listening to the players' arguments. He might have bumped it from a yellow to a red to balance out the SCHOCKING red Schar got in game 1 of the season against Southampton 🤷♂️
