Listen to the comments Justin and Danny made about his work on Fear Inoculum... “He blew my mind on this album,” says Justin of Maynard. “He did things that were amazing, unexpected and transcendental. so good. still love seeing you guys' reaction to "pure Maynard." Y'all are such beautiful ppl. I love Sori's little laugh. So endearing. And, let's be honest, pretty much everything you say, Vin, is endearing. You're the kind of people I wish I had around to hang out with. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone anymore that's "good" for me that I can connect with like that. I don't comment on KZbin anymore. I just got a little beer buzz and this is what happens. Anywho. As a combat vet, as a Navy veteran, I really, really loved you reaction to 5FDP. Thank you for that. It, and this is no bullshit, helped me in ways that it may not be prudent to print online. If you know what I mean. Suffice it to say that I've been in a very LOW place for the past few years, and...well... let's just end it there. Ok, I'll say it. You basically saved my life. Anyway, thank you. And, yes, Maynard J. is very smart, but he's not the only one. A high IQ CAN be a disability if you really think about it. Look at his lyrics in Lateralus. Overthinking, Overanalyzing, separates the body from the mind. Ok, I'm done. Love you guys. Haven't seen or heard anything from you guys lately, but I have a reason for that. I'll redeem myself. I'll check out what you've been doing since...well, nm. ok. done. love. P.S. Come to Arkansas or Tennessee or something. CA is poison. You know this. Love you.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the musical side of life". Could you expand on that? From my view, music is something that can touch parts of you in a large variety. And the music that speaks to us the most is that which we can relate to or have experience in. If Tool songs are touching your soul, it could be for a massive list of reasons. From the sounds and rhythms to the way the song changes or the message it sends. Maybe even not understanding the message, just relating to some of the words or short lines. I know I'm late to this video and all, and don't expect a response, but I am genuinely curious and would love to understand better.

Love, love, love the drums in this song! Tool is the only band that makes me really pay attention to lyrics and the meaning behind them, but Maynard's vocals and their music always carry me away. As usual, your commentary is awesome and insightful.

It's amazing to me that people will come here expecting free entertainment and then have the audicity to complain about the content of that entertainment when its not what they want it to be. Especially when no one is forcing them to consume it. That's like being invited to dinner at someone's house, finding out that they made spaghetti, and demanding they make steak for you because you want steak. Ridiculous.

It's amazing to me that people come to reaction channels hoping for intelligent review only to find ignorance and naivete that seems like it's a choice, then have the audacity to say something about it and try to offer accurate information to fix that ignorance and naivete only to have it ignored (no surprise there). It's equally amazing to me that some people blindly enable the ignorant and complain about other people's opinions as if theirs has any relevance. That's like sitting on the internet and expecting nobody to ever disagree with anything at all. Ridiculous.

i moved from the midwest to san jose CA, the year this song came out. I felt very out of place there, but I was kind of midwest punk so i had a dont give a shit attitude about what ppl thought about me. I handed my CD player headphones to a co worker and played this song. I told him, this is what I think of California. and let him listen. the look on his face was priceless. his eyes got so big half way thru the song, and he just kept saying "oh my god" "no" it was a classic moment in my life. sad? I dont think so.

Vin - you made a point about him saying "pilot"... he's not talking about someone who flies aircraft. He's talking about Holywood, all these actors/actresses, being in a "pilot episode" - the first episode of a new show that is being pitched.

He was kinda paying a bit of tribute to Bill Hicks during this era as well and the album was lowkey dedicated to him because he had passed a little before they started working on this i believe. (after they were jamming and possibly gonna work on music together.) but this is loosely based off of the Arizona Bay stand up by Bill Hicks

I love this song. I remember hearing it with those giant older headphones, being young and alone in my room and the last portion actually freaked me out it was so vehement. As an adult, this is the ultimate song for sitting in traffic, late to work and irritated at the sheer amount of humanity that seems to be in your way lol And it’s veryyyy specific to the LA/Hollywood mentality.

Funny video guys :) Not flushing to toilet Sori :) If you had the CD in your hands you would see that he ment the entire region flushed by the ocean (earthquake, tidal waves, 'mom' ) all away to Arizona. Original packaging had a 3D case where under the CD was a map of the States and when you move it, that region was gone under water :DD

He says "fault lines that cannot sit still" he's talking about an earthquake happening...the big one that some scientists think will eventually happen, where the San Andreas fault will completely break, and much of California will slide into the ocean, and leave a bay in what would be Arizona...hence the learn to swim. Also just random Armageddon events...Tool is spectacular! They've been going strong for over 25 years now and never disappoint! THEY ARE TRULY AMAZING ARTISTS!
