1:31:25 The whole thing of people hoarding these games and not releasing the ROMs comes down to two things: Being afraid, or being selfish. If you're afraid of lawyers coming after you, that's reasonable. Upload it anonymously in that case. But if you're selfish and just want to keep these prototypes to yourself, or just won't release them because you'll be unable claim credit for doing so, you are actively participating in the decay of these games and I am opposed to your actions. These are bits of history that need to be preserved. Some may contain coding methods that weren't viable back then, but may be now. Or may contain gameplay concepts that were forgotten, but can be expanded and finished. Or they may be an important link in someone's career or the history of a franchise. Some may just be simple interesting anomalies. If you keep these to yourself just because you're the only person who has them, you're a dick. There's no two ways about it. These carts, floppy disks, CDs, tapes, ZIP Drives, harddrives -- whatever physical storage media they are, they don't last forever. We all know that. And when those storage mediums die, and when your local backup you made fails, you've screwed everyone over. Uploading it onto the internet is the closest way we have right now of making infinite backups in order to preserve the game in case of catastrophe. If you oppose doing that, you're not a collector. You're a hoarder and a dick.
@ButtonMasherReal5 жыл бұрын

Woah, I actually played that "Super Tee Shot" game once! Didn't know it was an unreleased game at all. Not sure about other places, but here in Brazil it used to be very common to see bootleg PS2 discs like "super ultra retro collection" or something among these lines, and they'd include a lot of random game ROMs (have no idea how a PS2 can emulate older games, but whatever), and the one I owned had this game included. That disc had some other interesting stuff, like some ROMs which were either dumped in a shit way or the emulator itself sucked, because some were just unplayable. Like one which was supposed to be a fantranslation of A Link to The Past but when you run it you just start in a room full of garbled pixels. And then there was this one fantranslation of some Japan-only game but I guess the translators just gave up halfway because at some point it would just become random letters. Not even romaji, like, y'know when you try to run a japanese game without changing the locale first? Yeah, that was it.
