Thank you so much for these videos and information. This really helped me restore my childhood GI Joe's from the 1980's. As a child it was always so upsetting when your favorite toy broke. The only options as a child was to try to glue the broken part that typically failed or tape it. With these new ideas and skills I've been able to expand on them and come up with many other quality repairs instead of part replacement. It is so exciting to see my Killer WHALE along with so many other toys together again. Cheers!

Thank you very much for the shout-out and link to my site Dave! (stonegate creations). I'm always working on new parts for ARAH vehicles, either by 3d print or injection molding. All the flexible parts on the WHALE that brittle over time are made of polypropylene. There are special hot-melt glue sticks intended for this type of material that works much better than typical off-the-shelf glues. Great job as always repairing these awesome toys with your ingenuity.

@@toypolloi I read where Loctite 60 second all-purpose glue works and stays flexible. I read numerous comments that the UV glue doesn't cure right unless using it on clear material. I'm a novice so I'm trying to find the the best way to go.

Epic restoration! Really enjoyed watching all 4 parts. Cool looking toy too. I had some Action Force, (used to get the comic as well), but the W.H.A.L.E. obviously passed me by!

This was a great learning experience. I hope to get those brittle propeller shrouds glued together so they hold the vanes in place. Your fixes using Lego parts is pure genius and much more solid. As I'm restoring my Sons Whale from the 80's I refer to your vids often.

I’d buy any of your restorations without hesitation. The original part prices are just too crazy. I have a soft spot in my heart for your repairs because they remind me of a more sophisticated kind of fix my dad would have done in my toys when I broke them. There’s a charm to imperfect toys.

I have to tell you that I LOVE that your Killer WHALE has a combination of green and gray bits, Dave! In real life, military vehicles and equipment often receive replacement parts, so the mismatched colors give it a kind of add some realism to the piece. Like the Killer WHALE has been called into duty just after repairs were made, and there was no time to do paint prep. It makes this toy your own unique version! Action Force and GI JOE stickers also adds a nice custom touch!. I really dig it! You really managed to come up with some nice fixes on this one, and the results are one of the coolest toy vehicles that I've seen you work on on the channel!

It may be possible to reinforce and keep the fan shrouds circular, by gluing a ring of some transparent plastic on their inside. From a small plastic bottle or similar. Anyway, impressive work! I admire your patience with such a frustratingly constructed toy.

Well it came a long way, and I must say it's nice, I'm proud of you, that last bit with the turbines made me feel like I couldn't deal with that, I would have to try and track down parts and buy them, but you did it you fixed them, that says a lot, you wanted to go more correct with the stickers and that was a firm move, I like that you did that that was a good choice, overall very nice well done.

Those blade guards are polypropylene, by the look of them. That can be destroyed by sunlight, and (as I have found from experience) can actually crumble to dust. It's very weird - I had an uplighter, by a window. When I moved it, to paint the wall, the light diffuser crazed, and when I touched it, it crumbled to dust. Fascinating and annoying.

Hello Dave, been working on the shrouds that surround the propeller and noticed there is a tab on the bottom that slides into the boat. Mine is broken off the shroud and was wondering if there is a Logo piece or something that can be used. It would give extra support instead of just sitting there being held by the propeller. Also what adhesive to use to glue it to the shroud. Thanks again for your videos.

Hello again Dave. I have all my parts for the Whale and did some of your repairs with the pin vice that worked great. I'm concerned with some scuffs and scratches on the bottom black section. Is there anyway to get rid of them and is there something I can use to shine up the black section to enhance the overall appearance. Thanks again for your great videos.

Hey, I know your question is from six months ago, but I restored my whale and used an automotive care product: "Meguiar's vinyl- rubber- and plastic protectant" It's a spray on - wipe clean, product like Armor all, that specifically restores and protects plastic. I used it years ago, and it still looks great.
