Few bits if info I have learned are: Always wait a 1/2h or more after filling an empty heater. The wick needs time to saturate before its lit or the capillary flow if fuel can be blocked, like an airlock in a vehicle's fuel system. Make sure all the small holes in the flame spreader and the bottom if the chimney are clean if you want a blue flame. Aladdin's secret to a blue flame was in all those small holes. And close the chimney all the way as soon as its lit. It will burn really smokey with it open. If you light it and quickly close it you wont get much smoke smell. Hope you get it running nice. I'm using mine as we speak on my boat it's a great heater. Just a few things you need to remember. 1,you must have good ventilation or you WILL die. 2, use only c1 fuel it's refined parafin and will burn cleanly with no smell.

Your welcome, interesting video for us all to watch though, Thanks for putting it up. I,m sure there are hundreds od those heaters around tucked away n sheds that will come out when the gas bills all go sky high over here soon. I recall my parents using one in the stairwell and wowee It got hot!! When the paraffin ran low tho it did nt half stink the house out though, and the windows always misted up on the front door too.

@@MrGreenBentley I run into one about once a year , they sit dry and the riser for the wick will seize inside the tank , people with force the wheel trying to raise the wick and strip it out , I find now the best thing is to fill the tank up and slosh the fuel around pre soaking the mechanism every few days resulting in helping break it free . This was my first time fooling with one and it was a challenge. The next few I helped folks with were a breeze . They are indeed very good Heaters 👍

I will do a part 3 , I ordered a new Wick in the mean time as I'm not happy with the flame , it should be Blue. I also have it all apart and I will show you what I found ! , this will be beneficial for any Model 15 owners. I have figured out how to properly raise and lower the Wick, Do not force your wick adjuster, it will be detrimental. If your unit has been sitting dry for allong time I can help you !

Now that's a cool old stove for sure. I've never seen the Aladdin brand before. Probably be really hard to find a top for it. Just a thought that might work. You could probably find a vintage metal hubcap from a car. Maybe the old crome moon style cap to make a top.

Yeah... that's what I was thinking, my home made job will due for now , when that wick comes in it will burn blue and cleaner.

@@doinsngoins Did you try trimming the wick? On other kerosene heaters you could trim less than 1/4 inch off the top and get more life out of it.

@@BluegrassBushcraft I did , and it helped quite a bit , the problem now is the Wick will not come up high enough to get the blue flame , I cheated and pulled it up by hand as high as it should go and got the blue flame . Can't wait to get the new Wick!

Cool idd, I use a Haller Saffire. Same thing only the blue flame is viewed in a glas bulb. Both items do get arround 500 celcius but the cool part is, the are very economical. Full tank will give you 40 hours of nice warm heat. Wickes with fiberglass top costs 5 euro on aliexpress and free shipping. That wheel is the wick adjuster, wenn it is set perfectly the flame is blue not orange or yellow just perfect blue. Take good care The Netherlands 🔥🇳🇱

Hi, I know this comment is 2 years old at this point, but I wondered if you could please help find me the right size wick. I just got this heater last weekend as an impulse buy and it isn't looking nearly as good as this one or the one in the video you posted a link to. The problem is that the wick is stuck to the internal metal tube (dryrotted?), and even with trying to pry it lose with some very thin metal plates I can't get it to move without risking completely breaking the wick. I am also looking for a wick trimmer as well. I tried finding a wick for a decent price online, but all I can find are about 35 euros and with that out of my budget. Could you please help me find the right size wick, and if possible a wick trimmer as well? I am just getting into this hobby and would love to learn more, and any succes would be wonderfull. Thank you very much! All help is greatly appreciated.

Do some research! By turning that knob it does raise & lower the wick! The wick has to be stuck. Once free, it will move up& down. That’s what gives u the blue flame. Right now the wick is too high, and not adjustable!! Found one exactly like yours (same model) at the local transfer station. New wick hasn’t arrived yet! My wick was stuck also!! Good luck!

Mate the knob winds the wick up down may not be connected or broke never put fuel on the wick like that unless ur burning it off fill it up leave 15 mins then light it wick couple ove mils up should read up on these if ya haven't got a clue like u

The flame has to be bleu! You have to higher or lower the wick a. Iff you not burn bleu than your wick will be gone very quick.
