What a COOL Easter dessert! I’m old and like to putter about the kitchen…Advice on your butter crust: freeze your butter the night before and use a cheese shredder to grate the butter into your flour. Also, drizzle in about 3 tablespoons of ice water into your flour. This will make your dough easier to work with. Cream cheese: Let it sit out for about an hour or so that way it will be soft and easier to mix. Thanks again, for your video!
@mrob752 жыл бұрын
Hi Laci…You’re an adventurous kind of gal…Instead of drizzling in the 3 tbs of water, you can actually use 3 tbs of Vodka! Don’t worry, the Vodka will burn off and you won’t taste it all. It make a wonderful way to hydrate pie dough. After you knead it (but very little kneading) roll up your pie dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic. Let it chill in the fridge at least an hour before taking it out. (You can even leave it in the fridge all night if you’d like.). When you take the dough out of the fridge, let it stand out a bit to soften up. Roll out onto a floured surface…Make sure you flour dust your pin as well. Do not add any more water / Vodka….If it cracks, simply pinch the cracks back together and keep rolling out. *Turn your dough around often as you roll and keep dusting your surface and pin with flour. Roll to a medium thickness. Lay it out onto your pie plate without stretching the dough. Let me know if you need anymore info. :-)

I know there are a ton of people out there like me, who hope things are going ok. You take us all back to a time we love to remember. A lot of good memories of times and people who are long past. So, I hope it will not be too long before we see you in your kitchen, wearing your apron, and cooking up something tasty. You are like an old friend that we do not want to lose track of. Laci, if you refrigerated the dough after mixing for a few hours, or froze it for 2 hours. It would have been easier to put in a pie pan. When you cook in Pyrex, lower your oven by about 25°. With the Jelly, if you brush it on, especially the cut parts of the Strawberry the jelly seals the cut ends, so the fruit doesnt weep, you can also brush the top with jelly before the fruit, it will help adhere the fruit.
@garmtpug2 жыл бұрын
I find your hint about cooking in Pyrex to be interesting. Do you recommend cooking all recipes in glass bakeware in a 25 degree lower temp? I use my glass bakeware, which isn't all Pyrex brand, a lot, and I'm wondering if I should be lowering the temp?

I think what changes the terminology is all in the dish it’s baked in. Since the invention of cheesecake it was baked in a deep pan and in modern times it’s usually baked in a springform pan. The pie you made was baked in a pie dish. But you’re correct about it being the same contents. Same delicious as all get out contents I might add because I almost took a bite out of my phone!

That looks so good. We will have a hard time baking this year, as we cannot get flour anywhere at the moment. Happy Easter to everyone

Great looking cheesecake/pie! Nice video. And I think the only reason to call it a pie is that it is in a pie plate. Have fun in Vegas!😊

The difference of pies and cheesecakes are the following:Pies has crusts that are crunchy, while cheesecakes have little till none crust but they are cheesecakes, always creamy, soft and peaceful delight. It should be able to prevent throwing away, since they are tidious and detailed. Congratulations.
