In the 1950s , my mom exercised with Jack Lalanne on tv and sometimes took a nap. She had six children but those were the days when a mom could say, “Go outside and play. “ and no one worried about it.

I second the part about snuggly cats. When winter comes, I like to put an electric blanket on the bed - the cats love it and we all cuddle in a pile.

I grew up in the 50s. I remember we always took an afternoon nap in the summer!! Then bathed and got dressed in fresh outfit for dinner. I still love to do that! Your program is sooo lovely to watch and thank you. Just love you.

All the little details of your home remind me so much of my Nanny’s house and it brings me so much joy and happiness. The bathtub and tiles in your bathroom and little trinkets that lined the sink. With this pandemic a lot of people are going crazy. I'm an American living in the UK, so our rules are very different. You taking the time to talk about self care in a very different "vintage way" is amazing, sweet, and honestly good for you. Very nice watch 💕

My self care routine involves a "theme" shower or bath. I love the Rose scent and so I use rose toner on my face, rose shower gel in the shower and then rose body lotion after. I do the same with lavendar and strawberry. Love your videos.

I loved hearing the article you read. It was published the year I was born, 1957! I also like to read, put on some old records and I find baking relaxing too. Winter is the perfect time to sit and look at my stereoscope cards and I find hand sewing projects really relaxing. Right now I’m sewing a complete Victorian outfit for a China head doll my sister in law gave me for Christmas. I even made her a corset and a lobster tail cage bustle support! Writing snail mail letters is also a fun way to relax(and be productive at the same time, ha). Happy Valentine’s Day!🥰

My oldest brother used to tease me when he would visit during the years I was raising my family, because I would have coffee time in the mid afternoon. He would say "Oh you're just like a 50s housewife." But I had to have this time every day to recharge, so I could make it thru the rest of the day and evening. I thank you for reminding us to take time to unwind. I , too, love a tub bath to take away the aches and pains of the day. I was born in 1950 and hence the aches and pains. But I loved growing up in that era. My Mom watched Edge of Night and I love Lucy. We played outside in the neighborhood all day in the summer. Such fun for us and Mom. Come in for graham crackers with frosting in the middle for snack. Watching your channel makes me look back at the good old days. Always heart shape sugar cookies with red sprinkles on them for Valentines Day. Passing out those vintage valentine cards at school. Thank your for the memories.

That quilted housecoat robe is just *chef's kiss. I've been saving and working on a pattern to sew one very similar. A nice warm & cosy housecoat, a good book, and cuddling up to kit-cats. A dream I'm hoping to make true.

I think we have a tendency to run ourselves ragged even more so TODAY than we did 60+ years ago. I personally like to chillax and either read or surf on my laptop whilst snuggling with our two Boston Terriers.

Giving myself a mani/pedi is one my go-to selfcare. I'm on my feet a lot and lifting items so the mani/pedi is always a nice treat.

Relaxing is so foreign to me now. I took today off to relax. Reading or listening to a book is my favorite thing to wind down, or watch a feel good movie or show. I have all the goodies for an amazing bath, but I never find myself wanting to soak in the tub. My favorite thing to do for relaxing is laying in my infrared sauna bed. My body and muscles become so relaxed I can take a long nap afterwards. Best investment I've made for myself. I try to zip everyone into that thing. 😆 I want to be more intentional about my mommy time. I have let it turn into mommy and kiddo time, so I really never get a break. Thank you for the reminder.

I partially lived this era and some of it is nostalgic to me and some I still don't like and some I still like. I remember having a robe just like the white/ pink one you have on in sel incantations during the 60's and remember how soft the fabric felt.

I always take a bath whenever I want to relax or pamper myself. I leave the hall light on and turn off the bathroom light and leave the door open for a soft relaxing mood with a lit candle as well.

Oh my goodness! I feel like a kid again watching your videos. I grew up in the 50's and remember those vintage decorations so well. My mom always wore a house dress, nails painted red and hair similar to yours. She never relaxed but was the constant housewife, cooking, cleaning and all things home. My favorite way to relax is either a good book and a cup of hot tea, or knitting and a cup of hot tea. Whichever I choose, my kitty always "helps" me out!

Definitely yoga. I do very gentle yoga, the kind available to just about anyone. It can certainly be considered vintage. I remember my parents had Theos Bernard's yoga book, I remember looking at it. I just learned that practicing skin care actually enhances happiness! Mask wearing caused a flare-up of rosacea and now I do daily facials (which has worked like magic!). My husband is like you, Laci, always working, always occupied. He gardens to relax. I loved this video! Thank you!

Thank you for your vintage wisdom on self care. My work and my laundry business keeps me busy seven days a week. My saving grace is meditation. So important for self care. As well , I enjoy baking. This weekend I will be making bread for French toast. You are so beautiful!!

That’s a good question to ask yourself, what do I do to relax. I had to hunt my thoughts for the answer. I can only think of four things, exercise daily, eat nutritiously, being clean and watching your videos.

Such wise words Laci! Over this past year I've learned alot about throwing good energy after bad (busy vs productive). I'm embracing change & going back to school (at 53!) so I can move into a different career that lets me move near family and be -an-auntie. My work for the past 3 decades has kept me far from family. Due to the shut-downs my career field (theatre & conventions) is out for the count until 2022 for full time work (honestly the workforce will never be middle class income again except for a small percent). Simple pleasures and contentment go a long, long way in life. Keep up the lovely work, it's such a joy to visit your world!!☺

Using antique razors for a nice slick shave is great for the vintage man. Its one of the things I do on my channel. Its a fast way to have a spa like experience and unwind.

Just read a magazine “Delineator” from June 1930! I like to read right before I fall asleep. Magazines, books, the Bible, it just relaxes me. When I was having trouble sleeping years ago I would (try) read a book on quantum mechanics. Fell asleep soooo fast lol thanks for the videos, I always look forward to them. Btw I have the same set of dishes as your cup. Love vintage anything and everything.

It’s been quite a challenge for me. But. I am hoping when winter is over, I can get outside and go for walks. I don’t work right now due to disability. I have managed to lose almost 50 pounds! I am so excited bout that. Things I like to do to relax is to watch animal videos or channels like Blue Cactus Dairy goats, especially after the Does give birth. There nothing more cuter that baby goats! Running around and hopping. 🥰

During the summer I find gardening relaxing and fulfilling. Now with winter time here and not being able to be outside working, I started a paint by numbers. It is mind relaxing and gratifying to see the picture developing each day when I work on it. I also love to walk antique malls and enjoy all the vintage and antique items.

Self care is a all time must! I like to get all comfortable in some lounge wear listen to records, read or draw. Coloring is a great destressor as it gets your mind off of things. Recently I have been working on 3d diamond art!

I also, sometimes, use herbal tea. I particularly use Chamomile tea as a relaxant. I also rely on meditation. I throw on an ambiance video of a Victorian Parlor (my vintage era is Late Victorian) and just meditate. And cats help, too, if they're not fighting. 😆
