I have found someone at last that not only enjoys journaling, but embroidery too. I’ve just finished a few mini journals and struggled to complete them to my liking. I discovered Anne on FBook and it has encouraged me to go back to embroidery while in isolation, I will now follow your posts/videos too. Thank you.

Hi Maggie, thanks for following my videos. I really must publish an update one what I've done on this fabric roll. Embroidery was my first passion and I suppose to some extent it still is. Although I'm having a ball making journals. Check out Rachel (Roxy Creations on YT) if you don't know of her already. She loves embroidery and JJ too. Also there is Anne Brooks and oh my goodness you are in for a treat if you don't know her work. Check out her Sew4the Soul project.... fantastic. You'll be hooked. C.xx

I wish I lived in the U.K. I would love to go to her work shop. Loved the informative video you did. Thank you! I'm making my own snippet roll. Never heard of slow stitching. I guess I've been doing that for years off and on and on and didn't know it! My snippet is coming along. I'm learning so much from all you talented ladies. Mine isn't perfect but it's fun and relaxing. I bought a vintage spool to put it on. I'm in love with material more and more the older I get. My grandmother hand sewed crazy quilts , she called them, for all the family. Her love of fabric has rubbed off on me.

Hi Carolyn, isn't it funny how things pick up different names as time goes on. Slow stitching is just embroidery and we've been doing it for years....lol. You know what? Mine is far from perfect too & that's why I haven't shown an update BUT it doesn't matter. For me, it's more the enjoyment of actually doing it, than how it turns out (although I would be fibbing if I didn't say I'd love it to be utterly stunning like Anne's). I bought a vintage spool too, to stop me throwing mine away and encourage me to keep going with it...lol. Have a great day sewing. Hugs, C.xx

Hi Sandy and a warm Spring morning welcome from Lancashire in the UK. You are absolutely right they do work well together. I think that's why I love JJ so much, you can adapt any technique for using in a journal. I did a FJ challenge where I used a fabric piping technique to edge the flap of a pocket in the page I made..... took me ages but fun to do. Have a wonderful weekend, C.xx

I understand your struggle with losing your mojo with your last journal, I think that happens to us all. After Christmas we all feel a little flat but an exciting new class like you took is the perfect way to recover your motivation! Beautiful collage background piece, I love the colours and can't wait to see your heirloom journal! 😊❤
@oakhousejournals4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Penelope. It was a bit strange as it's not happened before. I'm usually bursting to 'play' in my craft room. My heirloom journal might take a wee time to make an appearance with it being a personal one. I'll be savouring my time making her but I promise I will share her when she's done. Not made a fabric/lace journal before so it's exciting... lol. Easily pleased!. Hugs, C.xx

Anne left us very much to our own devices but did give us tips along the way to creating our own individual designs. If you follow her Sew4the Soul videos here on YT you will actually get as much advice and certainly inspiration as we did on the course. Are you jining in on the #52 tag project that Anne is hosting? Take a look at that too and particularly the IG images that others are showing of their interpretation of the weekly prompts... it's really great fun. There are some videos on YT too showing other crafters creations....enjoy. Hugs C xx

I'm glad someone is like me when they find a video they like. I do exactly the same...lol. I love slow stitching and embroidery but I really can't get motivated with this fabric roll for some reason. Tora, that is so kind of you to say. You can do this as it really is very easy stitched that I've built up over months on the fabric. I'm starting another with a friend of mine in January and we've plans to sew our snippet rolls all next year as the mood takes us.Why not join us? Hugs C xx
@torageirs64732 жыл бұрын
@@oakhousejournals Thank you so much for that invite (heart) are you going to do that online? I live in Iceland :(
@oakhousejournals2 жыл бұрын
Nope not online. It's just the two of us. We thought we'd start an embroidery fabric snippet roll in the New Year and just take our time and enjoy embroidering it through the year....no rush, no pressure. Just when the mood takes us to sew a bit of it. We're going to share pictures along the way. I'll probably show mine on my channel but my friend isn't on YT so she'll share her's on IG. But there is no pressure to share pictures if you don't want to.. all very chilled and low key. C xx

@oakhousejournals4 жыл бұрын
HI and thank you so much for subscribing. A very warm welcome. Delighted you liked the snippet roll but still lots of work (slow stitching) to do. I dyed the threads using Koi Norr dyes. They come in a roundish pallet and are just mixed with water... great for fabrics as you just mix up the colour you want. Hugs, C.xx

Oak House Journals...hello ...I have looked online for Koi Norr dyes and can’t find them anywhere....is this the correct spelling? or can you tell me where I can purchase these please. Kind regards Kathy
@oakhousejournals4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, sorry wrong spelling. it's Koh-i-Noor. Also on the base is the word Hardymuth which could be a brand name or the manufacturer. Hope this helps C.xx
@kathyknill61024 жыл бұрын
Oak House Journals ...thank you, do you just mix the colours and add water, then soak the fabric or thread?....also would love a tutorial on the fabric paper. Lovely snippet roll by the way. x
@oakhousejournals4 жыл бұрын
Kathy, yes, I just mixed up the Koh’s with a little water, wet the thread and then dunked in the Koh to get the colour I wanted. You can mix the Koch just like blending water paints. To get a more muted colour try wetting you thread using tea & then into the Koh. Have a play, it’s great fun. C.xx
