My moms Sears Lady Kenmore I remember her machine on the wash-N-wear cycle the machine would fill up and partial drain without agitation. I guess her machine was from the middle to late 60s .We had the 800 model. I remember everything lit up on the panel.

There were a few variations of the Perm Press cool down between WP and KM belt-drive timers. This is the agitate-while-refilling version, which WP never used AFAIK. Early Wash-n-Wear/PP did repeated partial-drains and refills with no agitation. WP also did partial drain, refill without agitation, agitate two mins ... repeat. Later water-saver timers had one drain/refill/agitate sequence on PP instead of two. WP's separate Knit cycle had a one-step cool down (and 8 mins max wash time vs. Gentle having 6 mins max). I don't recall KM ever had a completely separate Knit cycle vs. Delicate.

The WP's paused after each partial drain as well before refilling at the next timer mark. KM later using that same sequence starting in 1976. And there was no separate Knit cycle with cool-down on the KM's.

Seems the water level is a bit low, high-level barely to the top of the "swirl" fins. Can't tell from the camera angle how far is it below the tub ring. Should be maybe 2" to 2-1/2" higher?

Great video Eugene, This is what they need to come back with to wash clothes properly, not the junk that they have out today that just wets them down a little and calls it clean!!! I don't know why people put down the new 2018 Speed Queen washer so much because of it's new design??? In 2 weeks I will have my Speed Queen 2018 TR5 set for a year now and couldn't be happier with it's performance!!! I've done some pretty grungy loads over the last year in it and with proper temperatures, detergents, bleach and cycles, everything has come out clean and fresh smelling!!! What more could you ask for then that???

Really nice machine when I had my old vintage Kenmore, I never used the permanent press cycle because of the slow spin at the end. They were not fast spinning washers at normal speed, slow speed really left clothes wet.

it has a good wrinkle control for that cycle
@tvtimetravel4 жыл бұрын
@@CrestwoodRocks That's what the slow spin speed is for.

It was designed for a slow spin speed. To reduce wrinkles.

I have watched nearly all of your videos. You do the best job of anyone on youtube as far as giving useful information and actually making sense. i am trying to figure out what new washer to buy I am very disappointed in both Matag and Speed Queen Commercial washers and what garbage all the HE washers are. Is there anybody that is selling a good double action agitator washer any More?

It looks to me as if this agitator is gentler on the clothes. What do you all think?

It's probably because of the permanent press cycle, my 27 years old super capacity Maytag (Died 10 days ago 😢) in a regular cycle with [normal] speed with run more than twice harder/faster and really beat up on clothes, the best thing was that it has [infinite] water adjustment level that you can fill as much as you like.

He probably has it on perm press cycle. They said it was to keep the clothes from wrinkling.
@tvtimetravel5 жыл бұрын
It is on that cycle.

That's called the cool-down cycle.
@shellyblanchard57885 жыл бұрын
@@tvtimetravel exactly. We had one that would do that and my mother didn't like it. She thought it wasn't any good. She used the regular cycle. I found out the top loader puts hole in the clothes where the adjatater hit the cotton in the shirts. I have hole in my T shirts from it. The new washers do that where the have several paddles on the adjatater. Sorry about my spelling. 😊😉

I had a Kenmore washer and dryer from about that same year as this one. What I enjoyed the most about is the pitch of the two motor speeds.

Eugene, which is better in your opinion, the Whirlpool commercial top load, or the Maytag commercial top load?
