Yeah, when ppl try to pull out glued nortons from the box it always takes a big crater of stone out of the bottom. Really sucks. Makes it harder to keep your stones clean as well when they are fused in a box.

Yes that always happens. I've gotten a couple loose by soaking them. But that was just luck. I'd like to know what kind of glue they used lol

I recently purchased a new "Hard Arkansas" stone, is it normal for them to have 1 or 2 very small pits in them?

Well on a hard it's pretty uncommon, but not unheard of. I hate to say it, but I usually see that in lower quality stones. Or washitas.

I got a 3X8X1/2 hard from Dan's that was a "special" that has a couple of very tiny pits....I think that's why it was a "special". On the other hand, if you call Dan's up and special order something, the lady told me that special orders are only shipped out if they are top quality. The Washita I special ordered was perfect. The pits in the hard stone haven't bothered. It was a good bargain.

@@waynebean1521 Same here. I also just got in a 8x2x1 "special" hard Ark from Dan's that has a tiny pit in one of the the 1x8 sides. Like yours, probably why it is a "special" aka second. Won't affect the actual usage of the stone at all and its a nice stone. The actual sharpening surfaces on both sides are first rate.
