I bought a Seamaster Deville with a seahorse but no date from a thrift shop for $2.25 AU, looses about a minute a week. Best thing I ever bought !

I wore my late fathers 32 mm watch the other day and it actually wears beautifully. I usually wear a 34mm Seamaster from 61 with a 600 calibre . It’s a beautiful, elegant watch that’s simple and subtle on a beads of rice bracelet and I can not imagine wearing anything larger than the 36 mm. So many stunning watches were made in the past and compared to many designs now they have a quietness in the designs that is about the wearing and function, .

I was just gifted one from my parents. It is stunning in person, and wears quite well. These have such accurate movements. It blows my new Seiko SKX out of the water in accuracy, and this one is almost sixty years old!

34mm was standard in the day. Look at all the old Hollywood celebrities. Look at the timepieces on their wrists, and you'll get it.

Great video! I inherited one just like yours. I had it serviced recently. I had no idea about the luminescent feature! Mine also has no seahorse. That you for posting!

Great video. I have the exact same watch but with the Seamaster logo on the back. It was given to me as a Christmas present back in 1969 by my wife, and I’ve pretty much worn it daily, except for sports and service. Twenty five years ago I took it to a high end jeweler for service and he wouldn’t touch it. Instead he sent it to Switzerland and I was without it for 8 weeks. It needs service now, but I’ve only been able to find one jeweler who’ll work on it and they want $350 to start. I’ll keep looking until I’m comfortable. Again, I’ve worn this watch almost daily for over 53 years and it still keeps good time. These Omegas are heirlooms.

Yes, great watches. I have just had mine services. Quite expensive - $500, however, it is wise to have the service done by an experienced and competant watchmaker with vintage watches.👍

The first watch I ever owned. Bought it for 480 in 2015. Still wear it to this day on occasions, and never really need anything else.

A great practical video, thanks. I also have a solid 14K Seamaster Deville from 1963 with a 560 movement. The watch is in emaculate condition. Bought it in the US and for the US market. The case was made in the US. I love this watch, my favourite. 👍

I have nearly the exact same one. I inherited it about 15 years ago. The one I have was from 1965. It was not worn often. The one I had was maintained every 4 to 5 years by an Omega service rep. I kept up the maintenance on it. Works very well. Very accurate and works well. Easy to read. The one I have is an automatic. It keeps about 2 to 4 seconds per day. The one I have is in stainless steel. My watch has the seahorse on the back. The version of the one I have does not have the quick date change feature. I have to run the hands back and fourth across the 12 to set the date.

Great formal watch. Timeless design. Love the double markers at 3,6,9,12, the large, legible date window, and that super long seconds hand. The case and crystal design is similar to the OS Classic.

Nice watch! I have a 1964 18k seamaster that has the caliber 710 movement. The serial number dates the watch to 1964, wondering if mine was a later model in 64, thought they were using 500 series in mid 60's

I inherited my grandfathers that is near identical to the subject watch except it does not have the shorter marker bar to right of the date function. Blank back that is engraved to my Grandfather from his employer on his retirement. I have the box, the "International Guarantee" stating "Mov. No. 33522718" & "Metal Ref. yg km6068." Has his name and the name of the jeweler "Pontiac Wholesale Jlrs." Everything is like brand new. I do not have the original band because my grandfather was a tall and lean man with wrists larger than most peoples ankles. So it had a gold tone flex band. My son wore it on a strap and it was beautiful. He put it away because he was afraid he may nick it.

No doubt a beautiful watch. I've been looking around for an Omega of this kind at an affordable price. I need to be educated about watches. There are beautiful, elegant, reliable Orient watches (for example) which are far less expensive than Omegas. So my question is: how superior actually is an Omega (in the 2 or 3 thousand dollar range) to an Orient that's just a few hundred dollars. One might point to a more refined or enhanced movement. But what does that mean? Greater accuracy? The likelihood that the watch will last longer, or that it will need to be serviced less often? I mention these issues, because apart from a striking dial, design and quality of materials, they are the issues that matter to me. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that exorbitant prices have more to do with the age, history, and reputation of a company than it does with the quality of the watches. Sure, they're fine watches but are they vastly superior to the best ones found at under a 1000 dollars?

For the Timor period you’re absolutely right to say that they were on par with Rolex and dare I say they were a little ahead at the time due to the wider array of choices omega gave the people back then. How times change huh , literally with these watches we can track the history of the times ..... by the way we here In Canada can use a little California to warm our spirits so ......... take us for a ride already !
