Hi! I am very surprised that the vintage community hasn't actually told you what year the batman shirt was from. The copyright that you see was the copyright for the graphic. A common mistake people would make is that they would depend on the copyright date on the graphic to determine the date of the manufacturing of the shirt. However, we can date your vintage batman shirt with the shirt tag that the graphic was printed on. You can use many resources to cross-reference common vintage wholesale brand tags (i.e., Hanes, Gildan, in this case, Oneita). For your batman shirt, the Oneita tag that it has is the "Power/50" one, which is seen around the late 80s and early 90s. This is definitely still a vintage tee but would not date back to the 60s. Overall, solid pickups man! Good vibes only :)

Swedish speaking Finn here! You are indeed correct, the cap is Swedish! It says "Sätila Basketball Elite series -95" in the front. Sätila is a town in Sweden and I assume that is a local basketball club's hat! There is also a knitwear etc brand called Sätila, which I believe originates from the town. On the side it says "hobby commercial/hobby sponsorship", so it might be something about local sponsor stuff for the team! A cool find especially from a store in Denver! 😄 EDIT: I actually found picture of the basketball club wearing those exact caps you found! Amazing backstory to an item! That's what I personally love about vintage pieces!

I’m from NYC so you hit up a lot of popular spots. Thrifting here in NYC has gotten very hard, lots of expensive spots that are very curated and less and less truly vintage shops to find those 10 dollar gems. Also that pointer brand is amazing, I believe they are called LC King Mfg so the fact that it’s pointer brand makes it relatively older.
@catnip4587 Жыл бұрын
It’s getting harder to find the hidden gem. Thrift and vintage stores are raising prices due to increased demand and thrifting is very trendy at this time. In NYC anyway good luck

What’s considered expensive for vintage t-shirts in the States now? I lived in Tokyo for a long time and just moved to LA. Highly recommend Tokyo for vintage. Specifically the Shimokitazawa area. New York Joe is one spot. I’m there now and had so much fun. For vintage designer goods the Kindal shops around the city are good too. And with the crazy exchange rate it’s a great time to shop.
@RobiYorkMusic Жыл бұрын
People need to understand the difference between "thrifting" and "vinatge shopping". The types of vintage shops he visited usually purchase the items they sell and are in expensive places to have a store. So the prices are always gonna be extreme. Thrifting has changed also because of these vintage shops. The thrifts like Goodwill and Salvation Army have gotten hip to the game and now price their shit higher based on the brands. Carhartt Jackets were $30 MAX 5+ years ago. It was easier to spend $20 at the thrift and leave with 5 things back in the day.
@JTMYG Жыл бұрын
Even though the Batman t-shirt has a copyright date of 1965. That’s not the actual date it’s probably another copyright date for Batman in itself from DC Comics. The Onieta Power/50 tag on it shows that it is an 80’s shirt which is still cool 👍🏽

There is just so many people them pick it bone dry. You have to know when they come in with new clothes and be the absolute first people in there. The prices just follow the law of supply and demand. It's wild. Source: lived in east village. That was a fun a year, enjoy it!! Liking the vids Drew!

I'm from Ohio and Ive been thrifting for a very long time in my city, which is Youngstown. When I moved to NYC I expected a huge range of great pieces with decent prices. But no! NYC store owners, vendors know their brands and quality. So they charge "Boutique" prices on they're vintage products. At some point when I was living in NYC, I found myself missing my hometown in Ohio. Just for some quality Thrift grabs 😂. I feel you Drew... There are some great hidden gems in NYC still. Go to Harlem. I caught mad heat at the Goodwill on 135th!!!!

I've just come back from London and ngl I had the same issue, there was just nothing in the vintage stores that I loved, they're just so curated in the UK so every store has the same exact stuff It feels a bit soulless. A tad hypocritical of me but the only item of clothing I ended up buying was an olive shirt from Uniqlo. I tried on the Camion boots at Our Legacy and my god do I want them, too bad I'll have to sell an organ. #PVV I'm a very big fan of French hydrangeas

I was so excited to visit round two but they closed down! it was the only store i knew about ahead of time and was one i’d ALWAYS wanted to go to. kinda heartbroken to find it gone. not sure why or when they closed down the nyc location but it must’ve been quite recent and quite abrupt!

They used to come to ltrain vintage or they would send their people to Ltrain for cheap grails they could price up in their store, glad they folded. stores like them are what messed up the thrift game
@kingzhibrhanfabrizio1759 Жыл бұрын
No more cheap grails in NYC, you have to travel out of NY to get the heat now, if you dont have a plug to the raghouses you aint finding grails anymore and if you do see a piece in a boutique they will price it higher then it is actually worth. I repeat NYC sucks for thrifting vintage clothing. Nothing but over priced curated boutiques. They are paying pennies on the dollar for grails at raghouses. I spent 2000 in a raghouse but walked out with atleast 20000 in high end grails.

Almost positive that Batman shirt is the logo from the 1989 Batman movie starring Michael Keaton as Batman. That movie was grossly over-commercialized and to gen x-ers like myself the logo represented everything wrong with our culture at the time...they printed the logo *everywhere* as a blatant money grab, the movie was more about fast food tie-ins instead of being a quality movie, the movie itself was an advertisement designed to sell garbage products...if you wore that Batman logo in 1989 it meant you were a brainless NPC, it meant you were allowing corporations to lie to you, it meant you were selling out, which was the worst thing possible to say to someone in the gen-x age. A logo like that would have been worn by the uneducated, brainless masses, never by a stylish younger educated thoughtful individual like yourself. A lot can change in 30 years! Love you, & love your channel just trying to provide a little historical perspective.
