The bionic eye was my favorite feature on Steve Austin. I think my mother got sick of me walking around the house making the sound effect with his head plastered in front of my face, LOL. Cool video, as usual.

As a collector of Six Million Dollar Man Action Figures I appreciate the play value that "Bionic Vision" had to children's playtime. The gimmicks in 1970's action figures added value to the toy, not like most modern toy gimmicks that make the action figure a "one trick pony". Glad to see Steve Austin on your channel again and thank you for all your hard work.

Years later I realized that if you used Steve Austin's eye looking from the font through the back you could actually see a magnified view. I think they build the feature backwards and decided to never talk about it after it was released.

Very nice video. You can find nice light up eyes in Captain Laser Big Jim, from 1980 if I recall correctly. And I agree about the lens in Steve Austin's eye. When you are a kid, your battlefield is only as big as your bed or desktop, and having a shrinking lens makes all the distances bigger. When you look through Steve Austin's eye, you see what you were picturing in your imagination.

They should have put Boba Fett's eye in the middle so you would see through the T shaped visor, like you were wearing the helmet!

the atomic man feature was a Morse code signaling device. Place your finger over the head aperture and tap to flash messages through the eye.

That was a neat feature I wish some newer toys had that. I don't now if you're familiar with Madel man? They had a ship that was like a visor and you could see through the cockpit.

I had the Incredible Hulk inflateable biceps that you put on and pumped up. Also had the Spiderman that shot webbing. Both around maybe 1978?

nice review as always it seems like the palitoy version with the flocked hair obstructed more light from entering the eye the US version without the flocked hair had a better illumination great figure's

if you held atomic man up to the light and put your finger over the hole and lifted your finger up and down you will see it flash. also if you pressed the pace maker in his chest it was supposed to give him the strength of ten men I used to have great fun with him

Mike Powers eye was left open to the child's imagination mine had a laser range finder a signal and night vision and telescopic features. Mike Power didn't have the atomic heart ❤ feature and was a paint head.

The Star Wars toys that came along in the late 70s totally swamped the market - they were small and over priced in comparison to Steve Austin, Action Man, Evel Kneval etc..

I had the Boba Fett as a child (and still do) and I always envisioned the "bionic eye" as a targeting system. I would rotate down his antenna thing on the side of his head and line that up with something and pretend that was what he was shooting at.
