Hey Mike! Thank you! But ah man, didn’t get a chance to shoot ya a comment on your video yet. Did get a chance to watch it though! Seems like you also had a really good day…that Dylan Mofi…crazy!! But definitely check out that Booker Ervin album! It’s not too far out, just kind of toys with the idea of getting far out but never does. And thank you! Super super excited about the Stooges. Hope you’re doing well and had a good rest of your weekend! Take care man

Great pickups! Glad you were able to grab the Art Pepper RSD! The In Between and Streams are both killer albums! Richard Williams is phenomenal on trumpet on the In Between and he is great on every album I’ve heard him on!

Thanks man! The Art Pepper does sound really good, but still just not my favorite album musically so I thought it’d be a good copy to keep. I do love the In Between so so much, so I will have to check out more of Richard Williams and albums he plays on!

Wow amazing finds, Trent! I really dig Wes Montgomery - regularly spin his Incredible Jazz Guitar album - fantastic record - highly recommend. Never knew about Demian - thank you! I have an OG Gathering of Promises, which is a great record but you are right - Demian is killer! Gotta find me one of those. Big congrats on that Stooges album - what a steal! Cheers.

Wes’s Incredible Jazz Guitar album really is a great album! That’s a classic, and I love Wes’s Riverside work so much! Now his Verve output…not the biggest fan hahah. Demian is a great album though!! Highly recommend seeking one out, or maybe I’ll keep and eye out for ya too. And thank you about the stooges album! I couldn’t believe how great it plays for the prices that I got it at… Cheers Ilya! And thank you, as always, for your kind words. Take care!

Hey Trent, what awesome records! I've got hot smoke and sassafras 45 by bubble puppy and was super stoked when I found it. That's so cool they pressed the 45 on green vinyl. Also, that William Omnebour album is super sick. I've really been digging african music from the 60s and 70s lately, but a lot of the albums seem impossible to get in the states. I'm extremely jealous of the stooges album, that's a great deal. Sorry for the late comment, I've been pretty busy lately and just generally taking a break from the internet. Happy Collecting!

Hey man! Good to hear from ya. But hell yeah! 45’s are a good way of getting some good music for cheaper prices, especially but not always in the psych area of things. African pressings are most definitely tough to come by in the States, but I’m lucky that there’s a couple stores in the city that have inventories of them! I think that’s pretty cool and super helpful when trying to find those original pressings. Thanks though man! I was and am super stoked about the Stooges album, one I’ve wanted for a very long time so was nice to get it at a really good price too! And no need to apologize! We all get busy and sometimes we all need breaks from the internet, cheers man! Hope you’re doin good

Ha, I always wait to see what great finds you pick up in each video... _"Trent's new video in, must watch immediately!"_ Have broadened my jazz interests wildly on your knowledge & comments alone, thanks man. Agree, Lee Morgan's later stuff is so cool and a fun listen every time. Also congrats on The Stooges, especially being a Terre Haute press, price was killer. Stay well mate.

Hey man, thank you so much for your kind words! They’re always always appreciated. But anytime! I love jazz and talking about it so I’m happy to pass any knowledge along! Lee’s later career is so cool, and wish it was talked about more. His last studio album is one of my favorite jazz albums of all time. And thank you! Super super stoked to have it. It sounds phenomenal. Cheers man!

Hi Trent. Nice video again. I checked out Demian on You Tube and it's just fantastic. Never heard of them. Another gem that you make me discover. I wonder how on earth you managed to discover these wonderful obscure records in the first place. That amazes me. Thierry

Hahaha well first off thank you very much! But I just watch other KZbinrs and am a nerd and tend to do a lot of reading on albums and bands and a lot of them are connected in ways! A variety of different sources, but always trying to expand my knowledge! Cheers!

@@trentsrecords Thanks for the reply Trent. Yes, I do the same but music journals, even Mojo, rarely talk about these confidential records which in many instances can be better than more widely recognized pieces of work. Looking forward to your next video. Thierry

Stooges! What a find. I don’t have any Stooges either. I’m waiting to find any original or early clean pressings in the wild. Demian is a great pickup and not easy to find. It’s one that’s on my want list as well. That William Onyeabor record is a cool find. I’ve seen a few people show some of the current reissues/comps from his catalogue but never an original pressing. All of those African pressings are usually beat to hell. Glad it plays ok. Your used finds are the real winners over the RSD titles. Nice additions to your collection. Thanks for sharing!
@trentsrecords
@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, so this was actually my first chance to get a Stooges album in the wild so was pretty exciting! Knew I had to get there early if I wanted it hahah. But Demian is such a good record, so much more enjoyable than A Gathering Of Promises in my opinion. Original African pressings are quite tough to get in general, so was pretty stoked when I came across it at a shop. They always have some original African pressings kickin around which is really cool. And thanks for the kind words dude! I agree that I did better than I would’ve just buying RSD titles, not really my thing either. Cheers!

I grab most any African original pressing that I can find. So rare in the US, much easier in Europe to find. Congrats on finding it. I only stood in RSD line to also get a used album that was a grail also. I now have a Stooges Fun House waiting for me which will complete my Stooges OG collection.
@trentsrecords
@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
I saw that Steve! Congrats on that! But I wouldn’t know about digging in Europe but I hope to one day…and thank you! Very excited to finally have some original Onyeabor in the collection. They also had an original copy of Anything You Sow but I went with Tomorrow. But hope you get that Fun House sometime soon! Cheers Steve

Meant to say this as well too, but in Seattle there are a few shops that always have batches of original African pressings. Sadly, I just don’t know the genres well enough to really know what I’m looking at, but I’ll get there and then hopefully bolster up my original African pressing collection!

Some great scores! I haven't been to a record store since the pandemic. Yeah, that Sam Rivers is a good one. I saw him live with his band where every member could double on instruments. At one point he blew his false teeth out. Getting old is a bitch & I ought to know. I have about half of the albums released on International Artists including Bubble Puppy, but never found a copy of Demian. My original copies of the first two Stooges albums got thrashed back in my high school years when I would loan "friends" records. Luckily I was able yo replace them with sealed copies not too long after.
@trentsrecords
@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, that’s a really cool story hahaha. Even if it’s about false tooth coming out! But super cool that you have that much of their catalogue. It’s a great catalogue of work, but Demian is a great album. Was very happy to come across a copy. Oh what I wouldn’t give to be able to get two sealed copies of Stooges albums hahaha. Cheers Scott!

Not a FM fan, but are you taking off the shrink or no? Is a hype sticker your line? lol. Killer Stooges lp (mine is missing the name (CTH SS LH) - not sure about the pressing plant..) and Elevators single! Nice scores!
@trentsrecords
@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
I’m a big fan of Peter Green era FM, but don’t care much for the Buckingham/Nicks led era. But I’ve never seen a copy of Rumours with the sticker and it was like $20 so I figured why not grab it and use it towards somethin else, and the shrink will be staying on!! I won’t rip it off if there’s a good sticker like that hahaha. But thanks man! Super stoked on the Stooges, sounds so good too, same with the Elevators single. Little bit of noise, but the music easily overpowers it. Thanks again man! Cheers!

only $75 for that Stooges album? That's a crazy reasonable price for a record store.
@trentsrecords
@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
Right! I thought so too, but my guess is they just graded visually rather than play tested it. It does kinda look like it should play worse than it actually does, some groove wear and a couple light marks, cover is a little beat too. But it plays wonderfully so I’ll take it!
@chillepalmerz
@chillepalmerz 2 жыл бұрын
@@trentsrecords It's the kind of record I would expect to either spend hundreds of dollars on, or get lucky and find at a yard sale. $75 seems like a very unlikely price lol. Would love to get an original of that and especially Fun House some day. Great pick up!

@trentsrecords 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest that’s how I thought I’d acquire a copy too, one or the other lol. But same for me! Would love to have an original Fun House and Raw Power, even though I’ve heard the original Raw Power is just lacking sonically. Would love to get a copy of the Iggy mix reissue!
@chillepalmerz
@chillepalmerz 2 жыл бұрын
@@trentsrecords I have the double lp reissue of Raw Power with both mixes. It's perfect because I definitely prefer the Iggy mix overall, but there's like 2 tracks where I prefer the Bowie mix. I would be happy to pick up an original of Raw Power for collector purposes, but it's definitely lower on my want list than the other 2.
