“Vinyl Paint” Boat Letters & Numbers- Seahawk 4 Inflatable Boat

Vinyl Painting Boat Letters & Numbers. I used vinyl spray paint to paint my boat letters and numbers on my Seahawk 4 Inflatable Boat. Most states require that all registered boats display their state issued letters and numbers on the hull of the boat. Painting numbers and letters on a vinyl boat can be challenging but you can learn how to paint an inflatable boat.. In this video I show you how are used vinyl and leather fabric paint to paint my boat letters and numbers on the side of my inflatable boat. Peel and stick letters and numbers are not really an option for an inflatable boat because of the expanding and contracting nature of the boat.
The Duplicolor spray paint for vinyl, leather and fabric that I used is available at most automotive stores and is not expensive. The trick to using vinyl, leather and fabric spray paint is to apply many light layers allowing to dry to tack between coats. This technique promotes adhesion of the paint and will be less likely to peel later.

I have started my boat adventure with the Seahawk 4(started out as a nightmare...4 trips to the DMV here just to get my paperwork done). I am just going with black letters on the boat without the 2nd color. If it doesn't work, i'll just do it over like you did. Nebraska law says visible from 100ft. I should be fine. Trick is going to be the registration sticker.

Thanks for the vid, I have an Intex Mariner 4 I am about to put numbers on so I wanted to see someone do it physically. I have done the two piece floor, 65lb trolling motor with a 110AH deep cycle AGM battery with the Intex Battery Box, two swivel foldable chairs on 8" risers, mounted Garmin Striker 4 (just used leftover plywood cut to shape), and a heavy duty cooler which can double as a third seat for a smaller person. Love the fact that I can have it all folder up in my Hyundai Tucson and take it wherever I go, setup only takes about 30-35 minutes solo!

I have been using permanent markers, which sort of work for about a year (but annoying to apply very well).The fabric/vinyl paint seems like a great idea. So, I am going to go ahead and try it on my West Marine "PVC" boat. Not sure if it will stick. Hope it works. Only time will tell :)

Mine was on the stern. I believe it was off to one side or the other, but it is imprinted into the vinyl. I do remember it being difficult to find. Good luck with your build.!

It seems to be holding up pretty good. I have inflated deflated and rolled it up a dozen times since the paint job. We are filming another video with this boat this weekend. I will spotlight the paint in the video and do an update. Thanks for the comments.!

Where did you get the cut out numbers/letters? Did you make them, or bought it like that?

Perhaps it was worth painting the logo with white paint and putting the number in black.
