Hi there
Back in the pub shed again, and the theme of this video is music and records, and beer of course.
A quick look at my amp and record deck set up, then we'll have a look at the vinyl records from the 60,s and 70,s that me and my wife listen to up in the pub shed, and we'll have a few pints as we remember nights out back in the 1970,s
For Information
Beer Connector was JohnGuest 15mm pushfit to 12 mm pushfit
Cost £11.99 on ebay ..... seller was fluidairproducts
Music... Get Tough by Track Tribe from KZbin Audio Libary

@@patrickdickinson6492 Hi Pat This is a bit of a read Pat, I have been meaning to contact with an I idea I have had for your channel. I am not a salesman, this is just a suggestion so see what you think of this idea. My wife and I have watched everything you have done over the most recent two years and have gone on a catch up and watched most or all of your adventures. The Pub Shed, is always interesting particularly because I like the beers from the Kelham Brewery. Pale Rider is a favourite of mine. I know the complications of multiple copyright infringements prevent you form doing so on your videos when uploaded to youtube. However :- May I suggest having a look at, www.mixcloud.com/live/ Mixcloud say this:- "The service is an open platform for all to upload shows to, and Mixcloud continually works with rights holders to identify, track, monetise or disable audio content on the platform, as they request". The link will lead to people set up with their music who have gone live. Take a look at their set up's they range from professional DJ's to someone with a lap top, there are no set rules. I believe membership is £90 a year. You have an ideal backdrop with the PubShed a traditional classic look. I believe you could give a short introduction and set the cd, / vinyl playing and monitor comments through the session and reply directly, via live text or by the microphone, if you choose to. As much as your video's are amazing, this should be a night off for you to chill out instead of hauling yourself up Kinder Scout or a tree etc, etc!!!. With a pint or two and play whatever music you like to your subscribers. Once again I am not affiliated with and have nothing to gain with mixcloud at all. I have a regular account and several of my mixes are uploaded, probably not your style. Over the seven or so years I have never had any issues playing anyone's music or my own. www.mixcloud.com/soundgrounder/ Hope to see and hear you down the PubShed on mixcloud but if not there a music muted youtube will also be great. Best wishes Toni A sincere subscriber.

Hiya pal, glad to see you are okay - not heard hide nor hair off you for a while. Funny reminiscing about misspent youth, and I can remember going out in my Dad's suit and tie trying to look impressively old at 16, standing on the footrail at numerous pubs and ordering pints of mild and bitter because that was what men over the age of 18 drank. Seem to remember most Friday nights having a drink at that age were full of adrenalin based excitement as to whether you would get in and served, but mostly disappointment when you got slung out lol. I did once have the pleasure of seeing the real Status Quo at a pub in Manchester, as the tickets were cheap, and due to a misprint, everyone thought it was a Quo tribute band and no one bought a ticket and went apart from me, a mob of my mates and about 10 other people! They were just asking everyone what they wanted to play so we had a Quo jukebox for the evening! Cracking night, and slightly blurry due to the establishment selliing Buckfast lol. You take care, all the best. Nick

I too was a young lad in the 70s/80s and did a bit of under age drinking, it did us no harm! My home town of Retford in Notts had a night club where they had a lot of live music, most of them very famous now but at the time they were still doing the small renues, it was called the Porterhouse and was run by Sammy Jackson who also had Rock city in Nottingham. I am going to check on my Zep 4 album, because I bought that in 1976 and have only played it once (I used to buy a record and tape it, then leave it in my collection, something many did I think ?) and what with the new Soulo coming out in May, there could be a few pounds there towards the cost of it. I couldn’t believe it a few months ago when our sons friends were round, one of them came up to me holding my cassette walkman and asked if it was a mobile phone.. Its a different world and Im only 32. Streaming music is okay on the go but doesnt come close to having the vinyl/cassette, even a CD. I think the whole concept of an “album” is disappearing with streaming services that let you constantly skip songs. Anyway, im going on a bit. Thanks for all the free entertainment! I walked through every pub door during your video, including the Blue Bell on High Street whose smoke is still in my hair!! Bit younger than your good self, Pat, but we must have passed in many a pub doorway. Cheers for the video. Brilliant!

@@patrickdickinson6492 Really enjoyed it Pat. I may have some more jobs for you to go about in the summer, since you enjoy Records, maybe you should put some hinges on your seating the seat lifts up and it could double up as storage for yourself and your good lady's Records! BTW everyone that ever had a record player had a Bat Out Of Hell album. I do believe Meatloaf sold the rights to that album for 100k when he was about to release it. It could have made him over 100 million! You reminded me of a story when you were talking about the cassette tape, In Ireland there is the irish version of Dragons Den, one of the guys on it is a very wealthy man, in an interview they asked him does he know any of the British Dragons Den folk, he said he has met a couple of them but didn't know them personally, they then asked him if he knew Sir Allan Sugar! He said he met him years ago when he owned a pub in London, he said AS walked in one day with a suitcase full of knocked off car cassette player's, he said Sugar couldn't have been any order than 15.... every time now when I watch the Apprentice I always smile thinking of that story.

An absolutely superb watch and listen Patrick from start to finish and an equally marvellous vinyl record collection on display there. Love them all and particularly pleasing for me to see ELOs Out of the Blue, an absolute masterpiece from start to finish as are all of their albums from the 70s and up to present day. Yes, I an avid ELO fan and Jeff Lynne's latest incarnation of ELO are touring again. Hi Patrick. Fantastic memories you brought back for me with this great old days. I remember those disco lights and the big ones in late 1970s. Talking about music I was a meat loaf fan in late 70s and 1980. I still remember shaken Steven's and that classic green door. 80s I liked the blues brothers and they made a film which I remember and then there was madness group. I still remember Adam ant. Late 70s I was a kid and I loved disco music and at boarding school we had discos which was so cool. Early 80s were great and I loved the music back then. I remember those record players of the 1970s and they were classic. Your wife and yourself has a great collection of them and I can remember few of them. Last week I did a lockdown local wild camp and it felt so good to get to camp again. This week I'm doing another lockdown wild camp and hopefully easing of lockdown happens soon. I tasted beer when I was about 9 years old but I didn't like it. You remember blues brothers and Madness? I thought they were good. Michael Jackson was great as he did legendary songs like thriller which I loved. More recently I like Sash and they are dance group and their song stay was fantastic. Spice girls were good and the song I also liked was gangsta's paradise by Coolio and LV. Imagine if youtube was around in the 1970s and early 80s it would be awesome! Great classic video from the good old days and stay safe!!!

I've thoroughly enjoyed this one Patrick and I'm on my 3rd Green Gecko IPA as we speak. At times it felt like I was there with you having a beer and reminiscing over the albums. As a 15 year old in the mid eighties I toured with my father who was quite big in Sheffield and South Yorkshire on the cabaret scene. I had done almost every Working man's club and Miners club by the age of 16 which was during some pretty difficult times with the miner's strikes going on. There were so many places to name - Park and Arbourthorne, Dial House, Wood house, Pitsmoor, Bell house rd, Wood Seats, Shire green, Bright side, Manor house, Aurendel ex servicemens.........it goes on and on. Happy times and some great nights out with some pretty strict entertainment and concert secretaries ruling the roost. All the best buddy and always a pleasure to watch your videos.

Wow Patrick! I for sure definitely loved this video. You’ve done what I love to do when sat with friends - that is reminiscing! I guess you gathered that given my past responses to your videos😄. I remember loads of those pubs you talked about. Most of them were brilliant hostelries. I was never a nightclub person. Dancing to disco, Blue Beat, Ska, soul, reggae, and Motown music never cut it with me. What I remember about the late-60s, and early-70s was constantly avoiding gangs of skinheads. Having hair almost down to my elbows, and wearing tie ‘n’ dye t-shirts, flared beans on which flowers were embroidered bellow the knees, long leather waistcoats, large floppy felt hats on which flowers were embroidered, and Afghan coats heavily scented with oil of patchouli, tended to arouse unprovoked aggression amidst those short-haired, boots ‘n’ bracers, and jeans at half mast fraternities LOL. The first pub I strolled into (around late 1970) was The Cricket, Penny Lane, over in Totley. It was close to home, but not too close - didn’t want my mom finding out I was entering pubs under age, consuming alcohol, and therefore breaking the law 😂. As far as my parents were concerned, it was ‘bad enough’ I dressed like I did, and, “Showed allegiances towards that politically unspeakable party.” LOL. As a wee lad I’d rebelled against attending boarding school: I was, in short, “A cultural disappointment.” 😀🙃😀🙃. Certainly under the age of twenty, it was rare we lads ventured into the city centre at nights. If dad was attending some meeting or other at the Heatherfield over in Totley, we lads ventured into the Hare and Hounds, or the ‘Dev’ down into the centre of the village. Once I passed my driving test, and owned a car (my first car was an Austin Maxi), the pubs we frequented included: Eyre Arms at Hassop, Shoulder of Mutton at Bradwell, Wanted Inn at Sparrowpit, Maynard Arms at Grindleford, The Sir William at Grindleford, and Monsal Head at Monsal Dale - it held live heavy rock, and metal bands every Sunday evening. Occasionally we ventured into the city. Pubs we ventured were a few of the the ones you mentioned: Hallamshire Hotel on Lydgate Lane, Kings Head, Crosspool Tavern, Plough Inn on Sandygate Road, Shiny Sheff, Sportsman, and Three Merry Lads out at Redmires. Other pubs I fondly remember at that time were the Bulls Head on Fullwood Road, Rising Sun at Nethergreen, Porter Cottage, Stag on Psalter Lane, Byron House and Union Hotel At Netheredge, Banner Cross Hotel, Prince of Wales at the top of Carterknowle Road, Rising Sun on Abbey Lane (a very popular pub), the Hammer and Pincers at Bents Green - near to my old school, Silverdale, and the Castle on Twentywell Lane. I was brought up to appreciate classical music, including Chamber, and church choral music - which I wore until I was around twelve to thirteen years’ old then I began appreciating artistes such as Blind Lemmon Jefferson, Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf (my favourite), Elmore James, Sun House, Jimmy Reed, T-Bone Walker, Jack Dupree, Sonny Boy Williamson, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, and good ol’ Blind Willie Johnson. Certainly by the age of nine I’d become a staunch fan of The Rolling Stones ✌🏻. We listened to music on equipment manufactured by Pye. Dad insisted on everything ‘home entertainment’ in our household had to be of the Pye brand - that included radios, radiogram, record player, and televisions. I remember him looking at me somewhat askew when I said I personally preferred Sony rather than Pye equipment LOL. Oh man: I could go on for hours exchanging notes with you, but alas tiz time to go. Until next time, stay safe, and happy reminiscing my friend, Phil.
@patrickdickinson6492
@patrickdickinson6492 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Phil I knew I would have a great comment from you, and I,am not disapointed, especially as we frequented the same area and pubs in the early 70,s All the pubs you mentioned we visited, and they were packed you had to squese your way in, and being under age last thing you wanted was to be spotted by family or friends of your parents and your teachers at school, but it was all worth it for the exciement. I can see the old hippy roots in you, must admit patchouli is one of my favourite oils, it drifts round our house on a regular occasion. At 17/18 when friends could drive then that opened up a new area to explore, the Derbyshire pubs enen more so as they were open untill 11-00 while most of Sheffield shut at 10-30, hopefully we will be able to visit alot of these pubs soon, if they have survived and are still there. Like you say great to reminisce, and that what this video was really about, great comments from people of our age, looking back to the great times we had when we were young. See you on the next one, thanks Pat
