I bought this as a 17 year old in 1990 on cassette. It was the soundtrack of a very weird, magical summer. Thirteen was my first Doors album as an 11 year old. They are imprinted on my DNA.

I just got the cassette side 3/4. Was so impressed by the art and the amazing collection of songs. Was so happy my dad showed this music to me as a child.

Errors and annotations: In my rush to talk about other things I forgot to mention 2 important things about this compilaton: 1) Ray Manzarek (keyboard player) sings on 'You Need Meat (Don't go No Further)" Robby Krieger (the guitarist) sings the chorus of "Running Blue" from Soft Parade and also this compilation. 2) The even rarer track is a Doors original called "Who Scared You" and I'll let wikipedia fill the rest: "Who Scared You" and "(You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further," were originally released as B-sides to 1969's "Wishful Sinful" and 1971's "Love Her Madly," respectively. They were not available again until "Who Scared You" appeared in The Doors: Box Set in 1997 and "(You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further" appeared in the 2006 Perception box set. The version of "Who Scared You" that was released on The Doors: Box Set is an edited version, as part of the last verse is omitted. The full length song was released in 1999 on Essential Rarities and later on the 2006 remastered release of The Soft Parade as a bonus track. Fe de erratas: En mi platica apresurada se me olvido mencionar 2 cosas importantes: 1) Ray Manzarek (el tecladista) canta en "You Need Meat" (Don't go no Further)". Robby Krieger (el guitarrista) canta el coro de "Running Blue" en Soft Parade y en esta compilación. 2) La canción mas rara es una original de Doors llamada "Who Scared You" y dejare que Wikipedia llene lo demas: En él destacan dos canciones que no habían aparecido en ningún otro (disco): "(You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further" de Willie Dixon, cantada por Ray Manzarek, que originalmente había aparecido en el lado B de "Love Her Madly" y "Who Scared You", lado B de "Wishful Sinful", cantada por Jim Morrison en una sesión de grabación de 1969.

I have this great Original album, the album I have was rented from 1974 at the grand Public library of Glendale California. But the last costumer maybe didn’t take it back, I can see the library name, date when arrived to the library November 1974, instructions how to keep the disc while transporting. It’s a great album. I don’t gonna take it back to the library. 😊😊😊
