When clients ask me to make a shed I almost always insist on hardie plank and t11 if they really want to cheap out but we peelbond primer the t11 beforehand to keep it from rotting. People that live in areas with high sun or uv plastic just breaks down. I'd rather have corrigated metal roof than plastic in thoes environments. Hardie flashed with vulkum sealer will last way longer and not require much attention.

Good stuff, thanks so much for the feedback! Several people mentioned Hardie board. Sounds like a good future video 👍

It's one of thoes that's fairly simple to install but looks complicated. As long as you have your siding gauges (grekos) it's even a solo job. Even better it can be installed (depending on your local codes) with roofing nailer, framing nailer, stainless screws and many more options.

Why did you use OSB for the vinyl but not the LP? I have an old shed that has t1-11 that is rotting away and has no osb. I’ll be insulating the walls on the inside too if that matters

Oh I see, you are saying install vinyl on top of T1-11. I don't see anything wrong with that. I chose to rip it out and install OSB, so we can calculate what would cost for a new install of OSB+Vinyl. On your case, if your T1-11 still has some structural support I don't see anything wrong installing Vinyl on top. I hope this helps... thanks for watching!

Lp and T1-11 act as sheathing and siding, which is why they are so cost effective. For vinyl, you need something behind it to sheath the wall for rigidity.

The LP panel is the way to go for sheds. Pre primed. Use a good exterior paint and sealeant to trim after. Lasts forever up here in Canads where we have 140*F temperature swing between summer and winter.

I agree. Most of shed builds are LP Panels for sure... this is more an informative way to show other options. I do run into HoAs quite often and they are super strict on what you need to use on the shed.

I just came from a neighborhood built in 2006 2007 all the houses had LP siding any of the LP siding that was in the sun was already chipping or incredibly faded. The only ones that looked good were the ones that were clearly repainted later.

Maybe add a full straight board on the bottom to keep level
@EverydayShed4 ай бұрын
I am actually doing this on the next video. Thanks for the suggestion.

The J channel should have reached the bottom of your siding and then some. Vinyl siding over zip wall sheathing is way stronger, more durable, and easier to correctly flash penetrations. Aluminum nails are not necessary for vinyl siding.

Thank you for teaching me… Siding it’s not my forte!
