I once heard this song during an early morning rain, getting ready for grade school in the late 60's. For reasons unknown, my sister was playing it on her little blue-and-white RCA phonograph while we were in that final rush to head on down the steps and out the door. To this day, every time I hear this song I think of that early morning rain, and every time there's an early morning rain, this song plays on an old phonograph in my memory.

Actually, they were brought together by manager Al Grossman in 1961 after auditioning lots of vocalists. He wanted to take advantage of the burgeoning folk revival in NY. Boy, did he pick the right three singers!

I can not believe its been 51 years since this song came out. I was a 12 year old boy back in 1966 and love the folk music of the 60's. Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan made folk music cool to listen to. They were great social conscious songs that relate to time immemorial. And now that I am 64 years old...This song still captures my heart. I consider the 60's as the greatest decade in Folk and Rock & Roll music. Priceless!

It’s 2024 and I’m turning 68 this year. I remember listening to their music from a young age. I went into the Army in 1974 when I was 17. Even though it was the best place for me to be I was still homesick. When I was down I would sing 500 miles under my breath or in my thoughts. It’s one of those little things that carried me through that time.
