Have you ever gotten a job through LinkedIn? More importantly, have you ever met a LinkedIn influencer? Even if you think you haven't, everyone knows about those "rise and grind" bros. Brittany and Sarah take a deep dive into some particularly insufferable posts from the networking site's favorite group of people.
To listen to Sydnee in the Sheets, follow the show on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Spotify or wherever you listen. You can also listen ad-free by subscribing to Wondery Plus in Apple Podcasts or the Wondery app.

I’ll never get why jobs expect us to think about the “long haul” and how they want to hear that we will be with them forever, yet discriminate when women become pregnant and need a simple 4 months off when having a baby. Like did you never expect your employee to have children during their lifetime devoting themselves to your company?! A baby doesn’t define your work ethic and being pregnant shouldn’t automatically disqualify you from a job position. Ridiculous!
@potato1084

That story of the pregnant woman reminded me of sexism in jobs too, like it sounded like gaslighting, I'm not going to interview her because it's too stressful for her...like???? You're just assuming and telling her how she feels? And was going to deny her the opportunity but frame it like it's a good thing for her?? And giving her the job under that pretense of OH this is bad for you but we'll be nice and generous and give it to you is totally emotional manipulation. Like excuse me sir if she didn't want or need the job she wouldn't be applying. This totally sounded like "I was planning on discriminating against her for being pregnant by not even giving her a chance but then she told me she needed the job so I took pity and hired her". She shouldn't have even needed a sob story or an explanation of why she needs a job!! Sorry lol it all just made me angry 😠

@@Zimzum93 Mmm, I wouldn't be so sure about that. I've received a free bakery/pastry item from Starbucks before, and not because I did anything similar to what the first guy described *[not that I wasn't friendly, lol; my friendliness, however, was not what caused me to get the free item is all I'm saying],* but because of some unknown reason where the cashier merely asked if I would like whatever it was, not to mention that I have not only had moments like that occur quite a bit throughout my life, but I, furthermore, have seen or heard of this occurring with several other people that I know, so I do not exactly understand why so many people consider these “stories” to be “so unbelievable” or automatically assume that they are “made up,” entirely, lol. I understand having a level of skepticism not only due to the particular way that these people describe these interactions but also that they are even putting it out there for everyone to see in the first place, which can come across as virtue-signaling, “look how decent I am,” and so on, to some extent or another, but still. Even with the whole sentiment of, “no lady in a Starbucks drive-thru is going to say the word crabby,” teenager, in general, or “gay teenager,” as Sarah said, and how both Brittany and Sarah find that “so hard to believe,” regardless of whether it was a teenager at the drive-thru window or not, and thinking that the dude made up the entire exchange, is something so interesting to me, lol. I mean, for starters, the guy didn't clarify the age of the Starbucks employee precisely, outside of describing her as “a lady” and “the woman,” which are not keywords that my mind would immediately or initially associate with depicting a teenage girl-I can at least understand why someone would envision a teenager being the one working the window at Starbucks since there are many who do. Regardless, however, not only are there many “older” individuals working the line at Starbucks or just working at Starbucks, in general, and many of which I can easily imagine using the word “crabby,” seeing as despite it being something that a lot of the older generations use, the word itself is not one used by just “older” people explicitly, but it is, furthermore, not something that anyone should use as some “tell-tale sign,” so to speak, that ole dude made up the interaction, at least not from a rational standpoint, lol. Is there a possibility that the first guy, or any of these people, for that matter, made all of these situations and interactions up to cast themselves in a positive light? *Of course.* However, none of the things that Brittany and Sarah mentioned or highlighted as being indicators for them that these things didn’t happen are, in reality, anything that is legitimately “unheard of,” “unbelievable,” “hard to imagine,” etc., etc. I'm not, in any fathomable way, saying any of this to take a jab at Brittany and Sarah, make fun of them, or anything remotely similar, much less negative/malicious, in nature, by the way. Brittany and Sarah, without a doubt, are far from the only ones on KZbin or Social Media who cover things like this and who react this way, as far as having an immediate level of skepticism or directly categorizing the situations as “that didn't happen,” including the details that a lot of people consider to be the reasons as to why they don't think that these exchanges or circumstances occurred-this type of reaction is quite common nowadays. Now, perhaps there is an aspect from which this particular reaction and immediate doubt that people have that potentially derive from a lack of life experience on a broad scale and not meeting, getting to know, and understanding a significant and vast amount of different types of people of all different ages, backgrounds, etc., which could very much possibly fuel why it is that someone finds specific details “so unbelievable,” when realistically, they are not at all-I'm not sure entirely. Still, I can't help but find it somewhat intriguing and also slightly perplexing that so many people will collectively consider something like the Starbucks interaction that the dude expressed to be something that “obviously didn't happen,” especially when you're someone who has first-hand experiences with that exact thing or things relatively similar occurring to them or others they know, lol.

Quick fact about why the English have extra ou in many words: we spoke and wrote this way too until newspapers became popular, and every LETTER cost money, so newspapers would cut unnecessary letters like ou, e, or other letters out of words to save money, and over time this just vacate the way we write and say words! I absolutely love you guys and I look forward to the next episode!! :3

I had a company job for over 10 years... I finally left this world and never going back... but reading these posts I can honestly say, after my experience and getting to know people from this type of environment, I know dozens of people who would write any of this bullshit... these people are just brainwashed, egocentric idiots that no normal person can relate to... they are thought to sell products by writing and saying these idiotic things no one believes in and after a while, they incorporate it into their everyday life and start making personal posts like they are making a company marketing post... Jesus take the wheel...

@@BubbleMousey Hey there! We posted about this a couple weeks ago, we have about 12 episodes backlogged - we recorded them before the podcast was released so we can't go back and put the images on the screen. In the future we will incorporate the screens. Your comment about us not "putting in the effort" is super pointed and strange. If anyone makes a recommendation we will write it down and adjust accordingly.

@@violatingcommunityguidelines i didnt mean to write that in an insulting way. i didnt mean "sarah and brittany dont put any effort in" or anything like that. its your first podcast together and i assumed some things would be left out for editing and times sake and some things would include more "effort" aka more work for whoever is editing or managing the show. sorry if the way it was worded made it come across in a rude way, i really did not mean it that way

@@jhart1127 i am not pressed in the slightest. i love brittany and sarah's content together and i was offering some constructive criticism of the show. i dont need to make a podcast by myself to know that sometimes monitors are used to their full potential and sometimes they arent. i can love this podcast while also having critiques, it's just a problem that the way i wrote it didn't come across as i intended it to.

When you both started talking about hiring someone based on appearance... Short story time: 2016 I was trying to get a job. Had an interview with a Gate station. I was excited and went on my bicycle because that was my means of travel at the time. During the interview I was never taken into an office as I expected. Instead, the man who interviewed me walked me around the store asking me questions. Most of them were about how I might be qualified for the job. But a few of them were strange. He had asked me directly if I was gay. I answered. (I am) He then said that I would get along with a few of the girls that worked there. He later asked me if I was transgender. I want to remind you that this is an interview for a job. I did not answer the last question and walked out. Unfortunately, all of this is true, and I am still sad I couldn't land a job around that time in my life but things happen. I made it in the end.
