If master trainers aren't considered residing in specifically the city they're standing in, or close by, shouldn't they still count to Kanto as a whole in the end regardless? So for all people you can't determine where they reside, they should just count to "unknown, Kanto" and still count to the whole percentage at the end regardless.

I like these and would like to see the series continue. Side note: Kanto is not a continent, nor is it even a country. It is comparable to a japanese prefecture, namely, the Kanto prefecture. Yes, they just used the real life name. You may want to use this information in future report summaries.
@Hijiri_MIRACHION Жыл бұрын
Kanto in real life isn't even a Prefecture but a region. Kanto is actually made up of several Prefectures, specifically Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo and Kanagawa. Kanto in Pokémon however could essentially be considered a Prefecture to a greater nation, even if the official term for these Subdivisions is "Region". It even seems to be subdivided into Municipalities just like a Prefecture would be.
@waitwhat9939 Жыл бұрын
@Sonic and Red Yeahh i forgot about regions. I looked up the prefectures for the comment and it gave me a region map ig. Was hoping he'd do his own research on it anyway tho
@Hijiri_MIRACHION Жыл бұрын
@@waitwhat9939 @Wait What That's understandable, unless it's the US or Canada you don't really think about Subdivisions that much unless you come from that country (and there's quite a few Japanese videos about their Prefectures). But yes, trying to treat Pokémon's Kanto as a continent when there's quite literally another region right next to it is pretty jarring. Forgive me if this isn't a good example, but it's like saying that Texas is a different continent to Florida while ignoring the fact they share the nation and landmass, much like Kanto and Johto would be.
@-tera-3345 Жыл бұрын
@@Hijiri_MIRACHION To be fair, though, Kanto and Johto are only connected via a passable route at a single point, and it's a pretty difficult path to travel, so it's not that unlike the division between other connected continents, a la Europe and Asia or North and South America. The bigger question is what you consider the ruling body in the Pokemon world. Does the Elite Four hold political power over the region? Would that make challenging them and becoming the new champion equivalent to performing a form of coup? On the other hand, that would make the Gyms the more local-level political leaders, but that seems to pretty clearly not be the case.
@Hijiri_MIRACHION Жыл бұрын
@@-tera-3345 If we're going by paths that are difficult to traverse, surely the connection between Asia and Africa would fit more alongside the Tohjo Falls and the Panana Canal, what with the Suez Canal being there? The main problem with the Europe/Asia border is moreso political rather than geographical. Then again, the existence of the SS Aqua going between both regions shows that the people of Kanto and Johto clearly thought about the difficulty of getting through the Tohjo Falls. As for the political state of the Pokémon World, I always did think that Gym Leaders were Municipal Leaders and that the Pokémon League sort of functioned as a regional administration. However, later generations (mostly Generations 8 and especially 9) really throw a wrench into that idea. There's also the problem of who would lead the towns that don't have a Gym Leader. The Pokémon League probably isn't necessarily a form of government either, since that would mean that Alola was basically in anarchy before they started a Pokémon League (which was very recently), and the player came along to become their champion. However, since the Champions of each game seem to remain in their position no matter how many people try to defeat them unless the plot demands it (see Hoenn or Unova), it's very possible that there is some distinction between their Champion roles and the players (this is the case in Paldea, at least), and that the Champions do act as some kind of political figure. As for the people who challenge them, I'd think of it as some state-run test of your skills as a Trainer, with the Hall of Fame being the equivalent of a Regional Honor Roll. So, to sum up my opinion, Elite 4 Members and Champions are probably Politicians, but the Gym Leaders mostly aren't (with the sole exception of Drayden, who is literally confirmed to be Opelucid City's mayor).

@LaCrownedGamer Жыл бұрын
For Chansey I would like to think about performance and animal actors. While they themselves cannot take payment, they still get paid and can be considered employees (the payment is just directed to there trainers) Buddy, the dog from Air bud made roughly 1k-2k per week when starting out as an animal actor. Also we have to think about the origins of Pokémon that was told to us in Black and White and how Pokémon and humans are basically one in the same (and how humans marrying Pokémon is considered normal but that's another story.....) So it is very possible to count Pokémon that have jobs as employed while simultaneously not counting the ones in the wild. It is not mandatory for them to work, similar to a child, but if they do have jobs they can be accounted for.

For the master trainers, since they aren't counting toward the city we find them in, what is the bureau's plan to include them in the overall region metrics, if any? It seems 151 people, who we presume to be workers and not volunteers, vanishing from the count would skew the overall statistics and insights from the region (one way or the other). I do agree with the decision to remove them from my the local count, given they seem to be part of a greater Kanto organization without an obvious local level gathering or organization site. For comparison's sake, I would say it is different from the more "franchise office" local employment for the "pokemart" and "pokecenter" brands which also extend through the region, but have clear need for local workers to staff on a more permanent basis.

This would dramatically reduce the unemployment rate to once of the lowest seen by far. The high number of children may also be explained as neither Pallet Town nor Pewtwer city have a school, as such it is entirely possible the children here attend the only school in the local area, inflating the number of children you will see in the city during the day.
