Joystick market was dead before Virpil and VBK showed up to take the lead, and now they just keep pushing. But i feel like there is room for some mid tier joysticks as well.
@fubarace10275 жыл бұрын
Thrustmaster owns that solidly with the T16k joysticks (which are left AND right handed with a quick unscrew and rescrew) and their Hotas which is surprisingly good at the price range. The pedals are a bit too small imo, but people use them, and I have gigantic feet (size 13) so maybe you wont feel like I do. If you consider them, go to amazon and buy a tube of nyogel 767A and regrease the sticks and the hotas, it makes a considerable difference in their feel and play. It cost me $30 and now that I've done it, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. There are many howto videos here both on how to do it, and displaying before and after.

Well... VPC is a premium segment, logitech (with their Saitek's products) + Thrustmaster has the mid
@JETZcorp3 жыл бұрын
Just adding in for future visitors to the comments. The current midrange king of sticks is the VKB Gladiator NXT. Better gimbal than Thrustmaster or Saitek, and comes with the full-fat Kosmosima grip. $150 for the Premium version. If only they had a throttle to go with it. The Thrustmaster T16000 throttle is a popular pairing with the VKB, making a solid midrange hotas pair that kicks the balls off of the full T16K set or the X56.

If Virpil release something like your suggestion with an analog thumbstick and a twist in left and right hand grips, I would be AAAAAALL over that.
@verpine35345 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this intro to Virpil's new stick, Noob. With all the constructive feedback Virpil received in the past, and their knowledge that their hardware is sought by space sim pilots as well as flight sim folks, I'd have thought they would have produced this stick with your suggestions already in place. Virpil knows they have a subset of customers who want a top-end stick with the options for left hand, twist, and a mini-stick for space sims.
@kennethjones86835 жыл бұрын
I have been asking Virpil to come out with an mini extension that allows a Z axis (since the original MT-50 release). They already sell 20, 40, 60mm extensions. Imagine a 15 or 20mm extension that would allow Z axis? They would sell sooooo many of these. I just simply don't know why they don't research and produce this (other than they want to sell space sim grips - which I hate the design). Seriously Virpil - look at 2:48 - take that part and design it into an extension already.

I agree with all of your suggestions and would like to add a few of my own. Add English labels to the new stick so users aren't limited to Russian, and see if you can decrease the overall size of the stick. Their model line-up is rather large when compared to sticks offered by other manufacturers. Great content as always! Keep up the good work!

Currently I have two grips for each of these bases. Two T50 have been sent into careful storage until Virpil makes a set of rudder pedals, power number pad (like Logitechs G13 or Razors n52te), and MFD panels while I use the Constellation grips.

Virpil, for me, add a Z axis and I'll buy the grip. I was a little disappointed to convince myself to settle with the WaBRD grip (ordering it right now, just reviewing his videos to decide on extra cams with or without soft center) as I felt it would be difficult to learn to use pedals (plus I'd have to buy them). I'd MUCH rather use this grip than the Delta, I like the shape, buttons, and layout. So either make this grip WITH a Z axis, or make a Z axis addon and I'll buy this grip too. Thanks for the review!

I'm going to go ahead getting the CM2 but I'll wait for your review and if it's as good as it looks I'll likely sell the CM2 and replace it. Good video as always, Noob! The CM2 will be a big upgrade over my T16000M!

Absolutely nailed it! I hope Virpil gets on it with a CM2 type stick, left-handed, AND Z-Axis. Many have asked and their response has been "...the Delta." It's a valiant effort, but nope! The look, function, AND button options just aren't there. The sticks I need must serve the purposes of three games I, along with many others, simply will not compromise so I just keep the money on tap waiting for the day that Virpil (or VKB) builds what I/we need while getting by with what I/we have already. I hope they listen this time around and get on it...

Virpil should dive into being the first company with modular buttons.. buy the grip shape u like and then swap out any hats with buttons out vise versa. i like the idea of the joystick for a hat.. using it to nav through the MFD in SC would be amazing

@fubarace10275 жыл бұрын
Your suggestions were right on point, though given the option, I'd prefer the analogue mini stick on the throttle over the stick, but I might be the minority in that opinion. I had read somewhere that a z axis addition was in the works, but I didn't see much about it, nor did I see any posts directly from Virpil Staff. Hopefully it ends up being an addon extension so as to make everyone happy, it'd would be awesome to have twist when I play Star Citizen, then be able to remove it when I'm flying in DCS. It just seems like it would be confusing at times manipulating the joystick in different directions while also manipulating the analogue mini stick in opposing directions, but I haven't tried it. Besides, they have more room to work with if they put the analogue stick on the throttle, and I really like their throttle. Having a mini stick as a thumb controlled option would be perfect as the thumb has good small control. My current setup has the analogue mini stick as a forefinger controlled device, and it's harder doing fine control with it.

+BrianMP5T *I've already shortlisted a few changes for VIRPIL® to consider* for a MongoosТ-50БМ™ ( _Болшая Модернизацыя_ "Great Modernization"). For the top pod, I picture a 5-way trim in the lower-right position (replacing the plain push), and a ministick in the lower-left position. On the grip left, a push in the thumbrest flank (about where it is on the Virtual Engineering Bureau's (RUS) MCG Pro), and a pinky outrigger push (as on the AvijaAvtomatika® center-stick grips for OKBa Milja (cyclic, hover toggle) and Mikojanja (external fuel tank jett)). The Z-axis input, if any, will probably have to be in the base below the air-brake grip.

Crazy it doesn’t have twist, as this is a product you hopefully only buy once and keep for a long time, the first manufacturer that produces the product people want will clean up leaving the other manufacturers in their wake. Virpil, listen to your customers and make a stick (pair) with twist and 1 analog thumb = sell lots of products.

I think you will be pleased with the new FM. The days of "COD in space" are over since that is not the game wing commander was. Aside the WH stock analog being terrible, I have better control with a thumb (referring to a MCG style grip, not sure yet on the delta arrangement). IMO they should kill AC for good. CIG has been trying to make both work, and each time they improve one, they wreck the other. Fundamentally they are trying to design two completely incompatible games and it is about time AC bites the dust. A more preferable approach while still providing the sandbox within the sandbox would be like the gamescon early 3.x build. You could fight in space, you could fight on vehicles, you could switch swap, you could do this in atmo or not atmo and there was a time limit. That would more accurately simulate the PU and balancing ships there would balance them on the PU.
