There are some good animations for the time though a lot of them aren't seen often due to how clumsy the gameplay is 😂 There's a great selection of goal celebrations to see as the don't get recycled too often.

omg, I loved and hated that game at the same time, played it endless hours with my friend at that time. The graphics were descent, sound and music very awkward and the gameplay more or less crappy. But you made the perfect point, scoring great goals felt incomparably awesome!

Exactly! It's not the closest representation of football by a long shot (no pun intended), but when you finally score something other than a tap in it's genuinely exciting. I had more luck getting mates to play this then I ever did with the likes of ISS and FIFA.

Personally this is one of my lesser favorite dreamcast games. I thought the controls & graphics left a lot to be desired.

It's definitely not the best, especially as a single player experience. I remember playing it lots in the arcade and at a bar, so by the time I got the Dreamcast version I was used to it's quirks. The later version on the GameCube plays a bit better and has better modes, so I'd recommend playing that over this if you were ever interested in picking it up again.

@@ryoma0045 Yeah I've been actually looking for the gamecube version of Virtua striker 2002 but like so many other gamecube games it has gone up dramatically in price.

That's something I never thought I would see with one of these games, glad I bought mine around release then. Sport games never really hold their value so I'm surprised the GameCube version has shot up.

@@ryoma0045 I think it has gone up dramatically in price because it's a gamecube exclusive & not a sports simulation. It doesn't help either that the gamecube version was released early in the consoles life so not many copies were printed.

Is this game worth 2022 as a soccer simulator?

It's very much an arcade experience. Very enjoyable but not anything like how football is played compared to PES or FIFA.

The Sound is Annoying, they say Score when someone gets a Goal and not Coallllll Like in a real soccer broadcast match.
