I didn't know it was so easy to create multiple cards in differing fiat currencies. It looks like, based on that fee schedule, that you'd be better off creating a card per currency and transferring amounts between them, if necessary, rather than paying foreign exchange fees.

Absolutely, good catch. I think I may get 3 physical cards, so that any time I'm traveling through the US, UK, or Europe I don't have to pay any exchange fees for regular purchases. This will actually be incredibly helpful for me.

May 9th 2018. I applied to Wirex for the new currency cards. A GBP and a Euro Card. By May 29th the GBP and Euro cards had not arrived. I informed Wirex support, and they further informed me that they would have new cards issued. I informed them that I was moving residence. They informed me that I would have to re-verify my new address. The address verification process I went through again. All was well on that score. However the earlier cards I ordered never showed up at my former address, even to this day. Wirex claimed they must of gotten lost in the post. And even though I asked Wirex for them to be cancelled, and their representations removed from my wallet. To this day six weeks later, the representations are still in my wallet. Despite the fact that I have communicated with Wirex support staff many many times. And they CLAIM over and over again, that everything will be sorted out. To this day the card representations are still there. I went through the KYC (Know your Client ) routine, yet again, established my new address. And I applied for new cards a GBP and a Euro card, despite the former card representations still being in my wallet. Only one of the new cards I applied for arrived. The GBP card. However due to the fact that the earlier cards and their wallet representations have never been activated, or removed, from my account the new GBP card that I received is not represented in the Wirex wallet or Web Interface. So I can neither activate it, or do anything with it. The card is a dud. This is just one of many many many issues I have experienced with Wirex or WirexApp or whatever guise they are going under. This company I have found very hard to trust. Why would I keep anything of value with them? Wirex have now locked me out of my wallet account, with out notice or warning! As I had both BitCoin and Pounds Sterling in my Wirex Account, this is clearly theft.

Hello I have just downloaded the Wirex and Wirex app and purchased one like queen to start this all happening February 12, 2019. My question is how long will it take for the plastic Visa debit card to show up in the mail as that was the first order of business that I clicked on after buying a coin. Hmmm very strange. The only place I've had issues using the card is the gas station because it does a pre-authorization which messed with my balance a little. You may find that certain websites require you to reside somewhere (like with Amazon) may be finicky with foreign credit cards denominated in different currencies. I haven't run into this very much but hear it may be an issue. Let me know if you continue to have problems!

Oh yes that would definitely do it. I've seen that before, though not when using my Wirex or Bitwala cards. Definitely a bit of a pain.

No problem! I've actually been using my Bitwala card quite a bit. My Wirex card is currently my backup. Both seem to work pretty well for regular transactions. One thing to watch out for - if you go to fill up your gas tank and it does a pre-authorization, you can run into troubles with your balance reading wrong within the app. What I'm really hoping for is a Bitcoin Visa denominated in Canadian dollars, as right now if I use either of these cards I have to pay a forex conversion fee.

Hi, could you please explain how, other than an online purchase, do you use your virtual visa at a restaurant or store? In Canada, if they punch in these virtual card numbers, it asks you for a pin number like it does on a regular credit card purchase. With out a Tap n pay feature these cards are pretty much useless. I'd rather make money saving my bitcoin, as it's value increases daily. It's simpler to use my debt card for daily purchases or my credit card for online.

Yes the virtual cards are only for use online. You can order a physical card to be mailed to you as well, which I now have. Those can be used in stores just like a regular visa or mastercard. I tend to think the same way as you... I don't like spending my Bitcoin very much because I'd rather save it. However, I'll use a bit of it for these videos to help people out that are interested in trying.

I have about $40 on a shakepay virtual visa. I was in Dennys the other day and tried to use it. The waiter punched in the numbers and it prompted for a pin number! End of the line... Can't use these virtual cards in this situation. Without Tap n pay they're useless. Shakepay had TnP but stopped the feature months ago. Anyhow, love your channel.....

Was very excited about this till I discovered the scam component. On exchanging my BTC for GBP to load my virtual card in the app the rate changed from 1BTC = 1,721GBP initially on the screen to 1,326GBP when I entered the amount I wanted to change. That's a MASSIVE card load fee! Screw that.

Wirex themselves actually don't charge a fee going from Bitcoin to fiat. What you're seeing is the miners fee factored into the amount you are changing over. For example if the miners fee is $2 and you're changing over $10 then you've just paid 20%. If you change over $1000 the fee remains the same so you're only paying 0.2%. From that info you can then get the price per Bitcoin you're technically receiving. If BTC is $2000, in the first example you'd only be getting a rate of $1400/BTC while in the second example you're getting a rate of $1998/BTC. I think the way they've presented this can be confusing to users (even I had to contact them to ask in my latest video) and they should likely just display the Miner's fee rather than formulating a rate based on it.

I love Portugal! I spent some time in Lisbon and Logos 😊 A lot has changed with the card provider for Wirex so I'm currently unable to use it, but my understanding is that they're still supporting the EU, with North America on the roadmap. As soon as they reopen over here I'll be sure to do an update video!

Definitely not a scam, but keep in mind that it is new tech and as such you can run into bugs that need fixing. One instance of this I've come across since I made the video is that the card doesn't quite understand pre-authorizations - like when you fill up with gas and preauth your card, or when you provide the card to a hotel and they put money on hold as a deposit. Because the card is technically pre-paid through another company and then routed through your Wirex app, you can get strange balances. Any issue I've ever had was resolved with customer support though. I would play around with it a little bit first before relying on it for any sort of business use. I'm headed to England with my GBP wirex card in two weeks. I'll see how I fare over there with it.
