Dear Isabel(Mummy) This channel has been a real source of Escape for a Break for me these last few months as I too am on lockdown. Actually my family has rightly had me on lockdown since last November when I rec'd a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and decided to do the chemo/ radiation treatments. Good news tho my PT scan showed last week the tumors are gone! So we are hopeful. Now back to Isabel. This episode is my favorite so far. 🐬I love the garden , the greenhouse and all of your little stories that go along with the adventure. It ties in well with my memory of Stephanie doing the repairs on the greenhouse on a different chateau program which has now been supplanted by your family's channel as a favorite. I remember how excited Stephanie was to surprise you with the finished project. As a mother of 4 ( 34- 50 years of age) I always enjoy your contributions to the program and obviously your daughter adores and respects your imput at the Chateau. Also, you have shown great fortitude,grace and patience in your unexpected quarantine and separation from Percy. You are lovely inside and out and I notice quite a dab hand with the camera as well. Thank you once again Marjorie from South Georgia USA. 🌸

Dear Stephanie, in Greece we gather the tomatoes in the summer and make tomato juice or paste to store for the winter. We keep them in glass jars and use them when cooking. That is for the big tomatoes. Small ones we sun dry. It will be a nice touch ffor your guests to know that the tomato sauce in their food is from the garden.

🍅 Excellent suggestions for using up a tomato crop. We had an over abundance of cherry tomatoes 1 year. They were so sweet & delicious, you'd want to eat them like a grape. 🤗 We're spoiled in California w/a gorgeous variety of mostly affordable produce, esp. avocados. Fresh guacamole w/tortilla chips or avocado toast are a staple. Avos do well in a smoothie as a base w/Greek yogurt, honey, & frozen mixed berries too🍓. 🥑Slightly sweet & nutty, they're delicately earthy w/a velvety taste. Utter perfection paired w/cilantro, onions, tomatoes & all kinds of cheese🧀. 💚

Teresa Carle oh I see! Well the fact is that in Greece we have an abundance of fresh produce all year long, so I never bothered trying an avocado which is not locally grown and six euros a piece! But I am sure it is great 🥑

What is "ASMR"? What does that mean, please?
@alisonmulholland1674 жыл бұрын
Sarah Eschweiler - ASMR or Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), sometimes auto sensory meridian response, it’s a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck, as experienced by some people in response to a specific gentle stimulus, often a particular sound. Have a look at the ASMR KZbin videos for ‘Gentle Whispering’ or ‘Nana Fox’, or ‘Whispers Red’ - you’re in for a treat. You’ll hear that Isabelle would be genius at ASMR whispered or soft spoken videos x

Back in the days it was called ‘poor man’s honey’ and it does taste like honey, a very delicate jam. In a few weeks I’ll make jam from chèvrefeuille, a first for me! Those red clover flowers also look very pretty over a salad/bread if you sprinkle them. Bon apetitte! 😉

Chateau de LaLande is truly a Wonderland where past meets present in a fully working property. Your mother is amazing, taking care of the landscaping, planting and attending the working gardens, so many things. I wish there were more volunteers to help you. I wish I could help you! I keep saying that. I hope I really can come out to volunteer some day. I wish you could get a drone for LaLande to have for filming in all seasons. As you were touring the garden I found myself again wishing that the entire estate would be filmed from overhead in many seasons to look for evidence of previous structures and gardens. There would most likely have been a formal gardens there at some point. In setting up the planting beds or digging sub-surface, have you ever run into any old walls, tiles, brick fragments, etc.? I also wonder about Roman occupation and what impact they would have had on your region. I love the show, "Time Team," and they're often running into remnants of Roman buildings, roadways, old castle and village Bayleighs, so many things. It would be so neat to see if the Marquis' family had discovered much archaeological evidence of previous habitation? It's all so very exciting and inspiring. 🙏🏻💗💜⚜️🏰⚜️💜💗🙏🏻

How lovely was this! This morning in Seacoast New Hampshire, our temperature dropped to near freezing, and the winds have whipped wildly about! It was necessary to bring inside my little condo all the young annual plants and some shrubs that are not yet in the pots where they are destined to be planted! This awful situation is the result of a cold front coming down from Canada that also brought snow flurries with the winds- more like March weather than a day in May. To garden at all, one must be determined and resilient! Thank you for this lovely stroll that took my mind off this difficult day🙂

That was a special one. I was remembering only a few hours ago how my Mum once surveyed their land, saying “I have a dream”, while moving her arm across the layout of the land. That moment was said at her funeral. People thought she was crazy but she helped create a wonderful garden. And like your Mum, couldn’t go anywhere without pulling out some weeds 😅 and also the way she would get cross and hyper fixated. Your Mum is such a character, utterly authentic and quick witted and humorous. Anyway, this ramble is marvelling at the coincidence of my memories and your Mum (and her saying I have a dream). May she live for decades more, and with her Percy.

You can NEVER have too many tomato plants - so many ways to store them and use them all year around - dehydrate them, make passata or chopped tomatoes and vacuum seal it in jars, make tomato paste, dehydrate and grind it to a powder to add to soups/sauces/marinades, make cream of tomato soup and can that - and of course you can eat them fresh. Dehydrator machines are very cheap, and you can vacuum seal glass jars with pop lids in a big pan of boiling water xx
