It never ceases to amaze me how much history and architecture your beautiful country has to offer.. Prague alone is incredible but then you take us to Kuks!!! BREATHTAKING landscape and buildings. i would never have guessed it was a hospital or what we call a hospice! Such a beautiful and picturesque location for an end of life!! After your visit, it would be a shame not to include Kuks to visit. And can't forget to pet the KUKS KAT!!! You guys keep out doing yourselves. This post was EXCELLENT. Like all the rest!!! BRAVO!!!😱👌

Hope you guys liked our unusual journey to Kuks! There are a few things we said in the video that we want to adjust: 1. When Valery says "French palace" it was supposed to be "palaces". Vaclav cut out the "s" accidentally. 2. When Valery says that Hospitals were made to help people die, she means it like: it was also their purpose. (we are not so grim 😅) 3. At the end Valery says architect Braun. He was a sculptor. We found out about all of this after we exported and uploaded the video and were too lazy to go through this hours-long process again. Btw. if you liked the video, you can leave us a tip through the Super Thanks button below the video.❤

Those pictures of Death are all around the main corridor. Their main meaning is that only death is fair, she takes everyone regardless of money, position, etc. Pictures were invisible, overpainted before hospital was renovated cca 10 years back. Statues in front of hospital are copies from 70s. Original ones are inside the large hall (lapidarium).

Fun fact: the artificial water stream, from which the cat drinks, was used for pouring wine in occasions of count Sporck´s parties.

This was one of the best!!! I personally like it when RPGs nerd out on art. You told us that Kuks was beautiful and mysterious, then you showed us. I loved it, will probably watch it a second time. Thanks RPGs!!!

Amazing video, very informative. Is the only way to reach Kuks by private vehicle or can it be reached by using a train or a bus? Would you reccomend stay the night in the area to see something else nearby?
@xsc10002 жыл бұрын
You can go there also by bus or local train. Nearby you can visit ZOO/Safari in Dvůr Králové or fortress from 18th century Josefov. You can also visit Hradec Králové and Pardubice from where trains and buses go to the Kuks.

There is also quite beautiful bike path (cyklostezka in Czech) from Hradec Králové to Kuks via Jaroměř, narrowly passing Josefov (which is administratively a part of Jaroměř). So if you like biking you can lend a bike in Hradec and go to Kuks, or you can go by train or bus to Jaroměř and walk to Kuks from there if you prefer walking. It's absolutely worth it.

There's also a museum of pharmacy in Kuks if that's something you're interested in. And the garden is not only beautiful, it has a collection of medicinal plants.

If the count was alive today, he would insist that "Don't Fear the Reaper" be played in the hospital.

Do you like travelling outside of Czech Republic when you aren't working, and if so where are some of your favourite destinations? Just curious where guides go on holiday :)
@RealPragueGuides2 жыл бұрын
Italy is our no 1. destination in the last few years. But we travel for strange reasons. We usually pick historically interesting places which have some connection to Czech/Prague history. (Like Lucca in Italy)

@@RealPragueGuides It's good to have a focus for your travels! I just came back from 9 days in the Czech Republic (Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Karlstejn, Kutna Hora) and really enjoyed watching your videos in between sightseeing. Thank you!

Valery! Is this place just a morbid museum, or is it still a functioning hospice institution?
@xsc10002 жыл бұрын
Its only museum/exposition, its not hospital for a long time.

Hey there! I'm planning to travel to czech republic the next month and i'd like to get insight into the best travel itinerary for 10 days in the country, including night clubs, local food, and amazing towns or cities to visit. If someone could help me with this I'd really appreaciate it. Thanks in advance and wonderful video btw.
