This may not have been the video you expected to post but it sure will help future travellers like us! Thank you for that! We'll be there beginning of September so hopefully it won't be as rainy. We've been doing loads of research for our trip and this attraction has not popped up yet! So thank you again for that! Right up our alley :)

Arouca Geopark is simply amazing! This little village has arts and crafts, great cafes, award winning pastries, kindest people and apparently a questionable longest, tallest pedestrian suspended bridge. It has been on my must -do- soon list and we went a few months after opening but the courage went away. We'll try again soon!

I absolutely love and appreciate how real this video is. I really like seeing this exactly how they happened because it could save a traveler a lot of grief. I for one would have been totally freaked out to be “locked” on the other side for hours. So it’s nice to know what to do in that unfortunate instance.

@@TalesFromOurPocket I would really like to know how you guys had cell service while traveling. That seems to be something not a lot of people talk about. I’m concerned because we need some data for Google maps and communicating with work back here in the US
@TalesFromOurPocket2 жыл бұрын
If your phone is unlocked, buy a Sim card when you arrive! We bought one from Vodafone when we traveled to Greece last year. It was $20 for the Sim card and unlimited data for a month. On following trips, we buy a new month (on the same Sim card) for about $10/unlimited data for 30 days (promos vary). The only downside is we get text promos from Vodafone while we're there and they're in Greek 😂 and Google Translate has a hard time with Greek. Also, roaming is free everywhere but Switzerland (and I'm not sure about England).

Crossing the bridge gave me anxiety only watching. But the "wrong" side seems gorgeous. I'd prefer to go to the wrong side, don't cross the bridge, and get the views. Thanks for the video.

That's a great idea! The views were amazing, even without crossing the bridge. 😊

Hi, we'll be visiting the bridge in April, following the same route, up the easy road and down the 500 steps. May I ask how much the taxi back to the parking lot cost?
@TalesFromOurPocket2 жыл бұрын
We think it cost 15-20 Euro. I think it was more than 500 steps? We really did go down them for an hour, pretty much without stopping. I hope you have fantastic clear weather!

It is NOT the longest suspension bridge in the world. Your information is incorrect. 721 meters long, 95 meters high and 1.2 meters wide. The longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world opens on Friday in a ski resort in the north of the Czech Republic, near the border with Poland. It took two years to build the Sky Bridge 721 steel bridge.

you never said whether the path to the right, or straight ahead, was the way to the bridge. Was considering making a day trip from Santiago de Compostela; now not so sure
@TalesFromOurPocket2 жыл бұрын
Google says it's a 3.5 hour drive from Santiago (one way!). Tbh, I'm not sure it's worth it just for the bridge, unless you plan to take advantage of the hiking available.

It’s a shame you had that bad experience. Probably it should have better signage and info for people to know what are the options and timetable. You should however know that the bridge, even tough it’s an attraction by itself, is an extension of the trails that you saw, which are quite famous in Portugal... if you had continued along the trail you would have come across some facilities.
@TalesFromOurPocket2 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Bummer it was raining and we didn't continue along the trails. It was such a pretty gorge! I hope they improve the signs - that would really help a lot. 😊
@ppietrap38762 жыл бұрын
@@TalesFromOurPocket The trail is indeed quite beautiful. Unfortunately signage in Portugal is not usually great, it’s either missing important information or it’s so badly implemented or placed that many people end up not reading it. The same can be said about official information online.
