Thank you for showing the site to the world with respect and information.It is truly astonishing how devastating this crash was,and the place where it happened made it so hard to rescue and recovery!

nice looking natural area and it's interesting that there's a monument and grave for everyone at the site instead of in a private cemetery

Thanks for the comment, Lucas. I said "graves" then corrected myself. These are just memorial markers with the person"s name approximating where they found their remains, although a couple such as the one at the very end, may well have been an actual grave with at least part of their ashes there, based purely on the design/size of the memorial...

Very sad! What adds to the tragedy is that had they found the crash site sooner there could have possibly been more survivors than only 4. The other tragedy is that Kyu Sakamoto was on the flight and not Johnny Kitagawa.

Agreed. Per the Wikipedia article, "A U.S. Air Force C-130 crew was the first to spot the crash site 20 minutes after impact, while it was still daylight, and radioed the location to the Japanese and Yokota Air Base, where an Iroquois helicopter was dispatched. ...U.S. military had monitored the distress calls and prepared a search-and-rescue operation that was aborted at the call of Japanese authorities." So some nameless, genius oyaji bureaucrat made the call that led to more deaths, rather than accept readily available help from the U.S. military, I assume, "...Becauzu..Japanneezu..Honor!" 🙄😡😠🙄

Thank you so much for posting this. I was reading the investigation report for the crash but could not visualize the site locations nor the magnitude. This made it very real. I too have a wife and 2 children similar ages to the family you showed.... Its so sad.

At 17:02. I believe that this is the family of one of the four survivors of the crash, 12-year-old Keiko Kawakami.

Those poor souls. I can only imagine the devastation of the parents trying to calm and keep hold of their dear Children for those horrifically long torturous minutes before the end. For those who survived, give them strength to endure.🕊️🌹

For over 40 mins or thereabouts thinking on what's going to happen to them after the explosive decompression. Can't even think as to what they were going through. God rest their souls 🙏🏽 💔 I will go to japan one day and pay my respects at the site.

Thank you for posting this video. Such a beautiful location for such a sad tragedy. May I please ask approximately how long it took to hike to the site from the carpark? Also, did you see any bears or evidence of them around there (such as bear scat, tree scratching etc)?
@BushidoDevilDog
@BushidoDevilDog 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! It took me about 25-30(?) minutes to get from the car park to where the markers (for approximately where victim's remains where found) begin. I was going at a slow pace and stopping to video/take pics, so a non-stop walk could possibly be done in 15-20. To get to the initial impact point and main shrine would take about another 30-40, as the slopes are steep with several switchbacks. I saw no obvious signs of bears...but I also wasn't specifically looking for bear signs, so I could have missed some(?). Despite being remote, I got the impression that it likely has visitors and/or the care takers there most days of the week, so I would think that the frequent human presence would cause bears to avoid the area. Japan society in general has a tendency to often be overly cautious/paranoid in the interest of "safety", so the bear bells may be a 'just-in-case" measure.

I was only one year old when it happened but it was awful. Many survivors lied in pain with no one to help them as they slowly died. Leaving only four survivors. Terrible. Truly terrible. God rest their souls.

Thanks for the comment. The level of incompetence displayed by the Japanese governments/the bureaucrats that refused the readily available help from the U.S. military was indeed terrible, and the person/persons that made that decision should have gone to prison for it.

What kind of camera are you using? The videos is SO crisp.

Thanks for the comment! I shot this with the no-longer-made Canon EOS Kiss M2, which was sold as the EOS M50 Mark 2 outside of Japan. I'm glad you liked the image quality, but I was actually disappointed because I still have not been able to figure out the Adobe CS6 encoder settings to have the uploaded video have the same/similar image quality as what I see from the camera. The video gets compressed when I render the edited footage, and is compressed again when it is uploaded to KZbin, even though I am following their recommended settings when I render the video in Premier Pro. Even on my older, much lower spec system and even for older videos, some look almost like real life, but my videos still look quite compressed, so I hope I can figure out if it is something I and doing wrong in the render or upload process. If I keep plugging away at making vids, I should figure it out eventually! 😅
