@@tevinkassemos ​ first, Vital has some squelch sound characteristics, proved there are some unique warp modes like phase dispersion, random amps, time skew, and much more. Those aren't available in Serum. In Serum, you definitely can achieve the same, but to me, Vital is easier instead. Second, well Vital is basically free, while Serum is paid. Third, Vital has three oscillators while Serum only has two. Fourth, Vital has wavetable pack made by Glorkglunk, which is for me very useful. Fifth one is just a preference, Vital looks better than Serum.

Bumping this 10 months later - Since the last couple of Vital updates, its much better. It has more features than Serum. There are a ton of packs and presets out there on the innerwebs. Good stuff! I use Vital in just about every song I am working on these days, at least a track.

I bought the full version of Vital and have had great tunes come from it. its a really good free plugin anf i used it so much i felt i should buy the full version too. i love it.

I fucking love that vst, Idk why it is so slept on, I grabbed it for free at Plugin Boutique and it's trully a workhorse, it comes second to Analog Labs in terms of personal usage

Well more than good as Serum it's actually better than Serum since it has 3 oscillators and 2 main filters, Serum however does have 3 oscillators, but it only has 2 main oscillator, and a sub oscillator, in the sub oscillator you can't have custom wavetables, and you can't add unison or add any modifications to it whatsoever, in Vital all 3 oscillators are just normal, even though the tone sounds exactly the same in both of them, Vital beats Serum, since it's easy to access the random modulator since it's just in voice tab so you don't have to go to the advanced tab, this is also great since you don't have to go to the matrix and route it to a specific parameter, it works exactly like chaos in Serum, in Serum you have to go to the global tab and on the left side you'll 2 chaoses.

I think we can agree that Vital would not even exist if not for Serum. However, today, I like Vital much more. It sounds good. It's easier to use, imo. I even found hundreds of free (and actually decent) Vital presets -- like always, you have to sift through tons of garbage to find the gems. I think some effects are better on Serum, but not all effects need to be in the synth preset anyway. Serum will have to up its game for that price tag.

Reviewing presets in Vital is like reviewing those recipes you get on the back of food you buy. Yeah sure you could use them but you bought the food to make your own thing.

Ahh that reverb... I remember when i got nexus 2 like 10ish yrs ago... Every single preset drowned in delay and reverb... I was like "Wtf, really?" 😅

It's better than Serum where it doesn't count...let me explain. Vital is amazing for all the reasons that people love it. Serum is in bad need of a 2.0 but the oscillators on Serum are better, tighter and cleaner than Vital. This may not be a huge deal for many but there's a reason Serum has been the reigning King for a decade. The oscillators are so good that there's a depth and quality that is absent or not as present in other vsts, imho

I keep reaching for massive or thorn when I open my daw. I can see that vital is beautiful and the sounds are amazing but there's just something about it. The sound just doesn't have the strange subtle beauty and fun factor of Thorn or the balls of Massive.
