When I started learning FL I stumbled onto BWB and learned SO MUCH bad practices that I had to spend weeks unlearning then. His beginner videos are more misses than hits - even tbe FL Studio sub has soured on him. Not sure whats wrong with him mentally but the guy seems to have a god complex over literally youtube of all things. Its bizarre. The guy was just early in the youtube game and managed to get ahead strictly via the beginner beat market.

Bro, I’m not gonna lie. 3 years ago or so, Busy was my first kinda “teacher” in FL Studio. I watched many of his videos and he seemed really chill. But when my knowledge of music production got bigger, I noticed that he often talked about things, he had no clue of or misinterpreted many concepts. As a beginner you wouldn’t notice, cause he talks so self-assured about things. Than he slowly started to get into this business mode or whatever. Always selling his view as the view of the “producer community”. He’s seeing himself in this elite space, as an entrepreneur or so, that hustles with crypto, and NFTs and creating opportunities and also does music production. How to find a wife, of course, fits in this Andrew Tate kinda state of mindset. I think Busy is very delusional, instead of appreciating, what he has, a big KZbin Channel, a family, health, he so insistent on being a part of that “elite group”, he wants to be known as “producer president”. I mean, come on, that’s hilarious. Why I write this all,man I don’t know, maybe because I liked Busy once, but I think he might be going insane over all this fame and status he chases. And obviously this video here is some fucking crazy out of context shit. Minute long monologues about Proxy Wars? Man needs some time off of the Internet. I want my producer president getting me a discount on PluginBoutique or so, but with this one I might have to go in the trenches with Weaver Beats 😅 Edit: Little Demon 😭

Your comment expresses my thoughts exactly. I, too, watched BwB when I started producing again in 2020, when I was still tryna decide which DAW was going to be my main one. Given that I knew some fundamentals because I'd studied sound engineering and done a little work before going on a long hiatus, I picked up on some comments and tips that I just didn't agree with, but continued absorbing whatever was useful. Later, I discovered Curtis King and stuck with him for a while, particularly for his motivational content. So when BwB had that beat battle with King and clearly took things waaaay too seriously, that just turned me off and I never tuned in to BwB again. And every now and then when I'd check on something that happened to be in my feed, it always seems long-winded, bloated and... honestly kinda corny. Now that he's on that Andrew Tate sh!t and using that fundamentalist religious talk abt ppl being demons, he's clearly too far gone. Dude takes himself way too seriously and is all caught up in a bubble of his own making. And in hindsight, much of what I learned from his channel was bad practice, which took a while to unlearn. I think he's the go to for a lot of beginners cos he's cracked the YT algorithm for producer content and since he has such a huge following, it's easy for a newby to fall for his BS...

Then he started advertising his plugins, website courses a bit too much in his videos, making his videos look like just marketing click bait. Also I was getting a bit more experienced and discovered other producers who were actually good, e.g. Navie D, Nathan Larsen, etc, then I literally unsubscribed from him seeing him pumping out basic content with terrible thumbnails. I have been making records for clients since the 1990s and I can say without a shadow of a doubt their are more Narcissists in music than any other profession. Everyone who's been in a band or worked with musicians will tell you that there is always that one overbearing person who tries to control the entire situation and this gets amplified in the studio. I've seen reasonable people outside of the studio become pure dictators once the recording light comes on. Ironically 95% of the time they act like this to cover up their own shortcomings. An example would be a Lead Guitarist who is constantly criticizing everyone in the band for ultra-small mistakes they made while not actually writing and learning their lead guitar part and failing to get anything usable by playing it on the fly. Musicians are rife with personality disorders and insecurities, that is what makes their music interesting, BUT when they can't take the heat because of their own actions then you get childish drama. Also some people don't like comedy, especially when its pointed at them, these are the same people who don't have friends that actually pick on them like friends should so they are soft and become a "busy body".

Music hardware companies actively blacklist people who say truths about their product defects. I’m immediately suspicious when someone uses the concept of ‘community’ to describe a large quantity of random people who have a shared interest or identifiable trait physically / psychologically / spiritually (and yes you can apply that to anything you like) Just because there are a lot of producers out there, doesn’t make them a ‘community’, it makes them a target market. When people like this start using the concept of community it’s usually to protect themselves, gaslight others into behaving in a way that advantages them, or to straight up create mobs because they don’t agree with the opinions of others.
