I've learned some tips along the way I'll share: 1. Get a pill cutter and cut the vitamin tabs in two. They dissolve completely. 2. Take your vitamins at bedtime. Your metabolism slows down at night, giving more time for adsorption. Best regards, John

I have had an ostomy for over 12 years. I appreciate your fun informative videos. Makes me feel less alone since I live in a small community. The one thing I learned about aspirin is to buy baby aspirin. Never had an issue digesting them. Just make sure you take as many to get the dose you need.

I take those exact gummy vitamins. My other multi vitamin was in my bag whole. I also crush my anti depressants because they were coming out whole. This is my first summer with my ostomy. When you go swimming do you have to change your bag? We have a cottage and I will be swimming a lot. What do you do? Any tips would help immensely.🌼

Hey there! I had a similar situation with a pill coming out of my bag. I clearly was NOT absorbing it. I do not have to change my bag when I go swimming. You can get your ostomy wet and it’s totally fine. Honestly I feel the more you get it wet it does decrease the wear time of the appliance. However that’s just my opinion. 😊 I wear barrier extenders such as the Coloplast half moon barrier tapes to help me feel more comfortable. 😊

I have had a stoma for about 2 years. One year before COVID and one year during COVID. So I don’t have anyone to ask questions that have come up during this pandemic. Do you worry about gummies causing a blockage in ileostomy. I am so nervous about blockage.

Have you added up how much you have of each supplement? Too much of some of them can be as harmful as having too little x
@OstomyDiaries4 жыл бұрын
Yep sure did! I also went over it all with my physician. He regularly does blood work and tests to make sure I don’t need to reduce things such as Vitamin D etc. 😊

Very informative video! I take vitamin D and drink kefir for my probiotics. I will add a few more supplements that you've suggested like Emergen-C, thanks again!

Thanks for all your info I enjoy seeing your videos. In 2013 I had most of my colon removed. I thought could never live with an ostomy and later had a take down. Did well just a short bit then crohn's effected my anus and was back going to the bathroom all the time. So 2019 I had decided that I would would get an ileostomy again though I wouldand have it reversed. But I realized that it is about quality of life. I no longer look for a bathroom or go to the bathroom. I have been doing much better. And you have inspired me and all the young people that have illistomies. I CAN Do THIS even I am in my 50s. I just want to thank you for your upbeat personality that it is okay to be an ileostomy person. Thank you
