I have not found the source for that full comment. I can only find the "The customer is always right" phrase. " It was popularized by pioneering and successful retailers such as Harry Gordon Selfridge, John Wanamaker and Marshall Field. They advocated that customer complaints should be treated seriously so that customers do not feel cheated or deceived. This attitude was novel and influential when misrepresentation was rife and caveat emptor ('let the buyer beware') was a common legal maxim" Meaning take you customer complaints seriously, and be honest with them. This doesn't mean if they are being unreasonable or dishonest you have to believe them or give into them.

Moving to Canada she cut acting ties both with VLDL and others ,and moving back isnt as stable for income as it outta be. The original actual saying was "the customer is always right in matters of taste". The point being that a sales assistant shouldn't say "that's not a very good product" or "that hat won't suit you" but should simply accept the customer's taste and sell them whatever they want. The saying was shortened to make it more pithy because people were smart enough to get the implication. Sadly, idiots and Karens came along and started misusing the phrase to suggest they should automatically win arguments even if they are being flat-out moronic.

Yes but they are not as hilarious and obvious as Ben. Closest I get is once a year maybe is someone that will try to negotiate a lower price and come back 3 times after to see if I changed my mind. I always respond by saying we have the same price for everyone so it is equally fair for all. Some think indie stores operate like garage sales and like all the other stores.

LOL i had one customer trying to return their 1 year old unopened product that they found at their mothers house while spring cleaning. They asked to get a refund since they didnt use it, when i said no, they blamed me for them having to be stuck with it. xD xD. I am going to start calling them Bens instead of Karens xD xD
