I never thought I’d ever agree with this guy. The quality of our public education is the pits! Now a proud octogenarian, I’ve always been grateful for the good public school education I got as a kid. A number of years ago I got to work in some elementary schools doing therapy with the problem kids. On my first day as I drove to the school I remembered fondly my own elementary school experience. Boy, was I shocked by the end of that first day at how far downhill things had gone.! But, my impression is that the decline is due to the Republican attitude, “Why should we have to pay for the education of other people’s kids?” and the resulting cuts to education. Dear Americans, First of all, you're not native, you're also immigrants, just couple more generations old. Second, many of you think it's a cheap labor, I don't think so. Most of my friends on H1-B working for these tech companies get average 200-250k USD pay annually. Third, your position as a country of innovation will be lost in a day if it wasn't for Indian immigrants. Most highly skilled students from top universities in India leave for jobs in USA, there's extremely less opportunities and incentives in India for these brilliant minds. If companies want to save money here are 2 things to do 1. Cut down CeO salaries and other executives as well. An immediate saving in several million $$. What are they doing anyway with all that money? Cleaning their butt with cash? Sundar Pichai can work from his hometown in India and lead a modest life. He is not doing anything here anyway. All discussions on zoom. 2. Give all the outsourced work as internships to US citizens. While in senior year of college.with or without pay. 3. Companies have to hire from all universities . Not just top universities. Most companies don’t even visit some universities. There are brilliant students in just about any university. Not everybody wants to apply to Cornell or Penn. This way hiring is all streamlined. Right now there are too many recruiters. Lot of corruption. I know people who work as some third party recruiters as a side business.
