To those thinking gremmy is dumb: He is a kid. He was locked up most of his life and no one ever challenged him so no battle experience. And the way i interpreted gremmy loosing to kenpachi is that gremmy was imagining kenpachi stronger then him the whole fight. Subconciously he knew kenpachi was stronger and that manifested through his shrift ability. I think this happens after he gets overwhelmed a bit and imagines his own death. He was also engaged during the battle and probably wanted to beat kenpachi fair and square. The longer the fight went the more crazy things he started doing and that led to his own downfall when he just said 'f*** it, ima just be stronger then u' and kills himself because like i said earlier, i do think gremmy subconsciously knew kenpachi was stronger. The anime made his downfall feel better now that he has a VA too. The fast pacing everyone is complaining about also helps with why gremmy isnt thinking of smart things, kenpachi is not giving him time to think of something smart.

What a strong brute and such a powerful fighter. Kenpachi sliced open a freaking meteor and made it look easy. He intimidated this boy so much he couldn’t handle it, so he tried imagining himself more stronger than Kenpachi and his body physically couldn’t handle that much power. His lack of power and his need for it against Kenpachi was enough for the boy to realize he needed to be stronger than him. He imagined that he was, tried to copy him, but because of Kenpachi’s overwhelming natural abilities and strength his body sort of blew up from the inside-out after imagining himself stronger than him. I really, really enjoyed this fight as it served as another reminder that I would never in a million soul reaper years fight Kenny. He is a force and now with his fully realized zanpaktou Shikai he is even more of a force than he was before. Kenny is the moment.

The yachiru stuff and the introductions takes 5 minutes total, which is easy to predict if you consider how much space that takes up in the manga. It's almost as easy as putting 2 and 2 together if you also consider that they animate 4 chapters per episode minimum
