This cat PRINCE was a daring trendsetter that was ahead of his time! He brought a different element to the funk! That outfit with the fedora, trench coat, bikini briefs, legwarmers, and platforms is just too much! He gave the funk a freaky new-wave element. Big props to THE REVOLUTION for a great performance and laying down the nastiness. Wendy Melvoin showed some mad skills on guitar! It's not often that you're going to see a female keeping a funky riff locked tight in the pocket!

Wendy probably didn’t realize what she was taking on by getting into this band with PRINCE. Best thing that ever happened to her, right? She did a great job .... can you imagine what must’ve been going through her mind?! I would love to hear her take on all that went on in the early days. They were all so young and cutting edge. They didn’t even realize how HUGE this night was going to be and that we’d all still be watching it years & years later. Just incredible entertainers. Prince and his music will live on forever. Also, this is probably why they all wanted to call Prince gay at the start of his career because he said Brownmark was a “little cutie”...( not that Prince cared). RIP 💜💕💜💕💜💕
