My Dad introduced me to the 1987 movie "Predator" years ago, and to this day, it's my favorite action movie. It's a classic. Bill Duke's performance as "Mac" was excellent. Although Billy sensed the Predator, Mac was the first soldier on Dutch's team to see the Predator, and live to tell what he saw. When Mac picked up Blain's minigun (Ol' Painless) and fired away, he shot off 200 rounds in the minigun! Nothing. Mac was right when he explained that nothing on earth could have lived. Not at that range. The Predator was not of this Earth. Thanks for sharing. Well done Mr. Duke.

@whatisbestinlife8112 6 жыл бұрын
Bill Duke is a big reason of what makes the Predator so intimidating in the first film. Watching his devolution from supremely confident military operator to scared and approaching mentally broken soldier really emphasized how fearsome the creature is. His performance is the emotional heart of the film, imo. The rest is all primarily action and tension. Great action and tension, absolutely. Some of the best every crafted. But Bill Duke's performance is a huge reason we really care for the characters, and why the Predator possesses such a powerful presence and impact.

He was the SCARIEST character in Predator. The way he creeps up on the other guys with that murderous expression and that quiet voice. The only time he ever gets loud in that movie is "CONTAAAAACT!" and he mows down the area with the minigun, making the Predator run away pissing itself.

Uh.. WRONG. Arnold s career was not the equivalent of Dwayne Johnson's today. Arnold was the top biggest draw at the movies. And He was certainly the NUMBER 1 actor in his genre action. A genre that he basically helped create. At his height. If you asked the average person. Who is the most popular actor on the planet, It would have been Arnold. Johnson although popular. Is not 1/2 as popular as Arnold was. No one says Johnson is the top actor. He isnt even considered the top in action films. Arnold was one of those people who reached the highest peak of fame. A status beyond famous. Hell. Arnolds one liners alone became part of American Culture.

Neil Tipton Not to mention Arnold starred in some emotional roles too in movies that won Academy Awards aka Terminator 2 Judgement Day! The Rock stars ONLY in shallow movies with no meaning that NEVER win Academy Awards and none of The Rocks movies are classics. NONE. Just popcorn flicks that you forget you watched the next day. They’re just 2 hour time killers.

They're very much the same if u ask me and I might dare say johnson is a better actor. Arnold was iconic because he's arnold, not because he was a stellar actor. He was always typecast as the big musclehead main character. His other roles where he was supposed to be funny, those movies did well at box office because it's arnold, but they are all forgotten now and ppl only remember his big action roles. Johnson is actually decent at being a funny guy, and he's VERY good at being the big musclehead. Johnson's a bit of a chameleon on screen, I'd like to see him do romance with zero action and see how well he could perform such a role. Arnold, we just want to see him play the big guy with a gun. He doesn't make you want anything more than that from him.
@swappedoutZ71
@swappedoutZ71 3 жыл бұрын
Johnson also does much better physical fight scenes than any fight scene I have ever seen arnold do. I loved him as a kid but listen I grew up and realized what acting really is.. arnold is nothing special in that field but he is iconic just for being himself. The time era had alot to do with it as well.

@@irishtyrant4532 I agree, it is good advice for all, but seriously - people of color get much more scrutiny and judgment. Yes, ignorant people of all races make those assumptions about all people, but those of us who are successful, (but not white), interact with more people for business (more chances to be judged) and do things at higher levels (more "do you belong here" questions) so we experience it more.
