This high pitched howling? That´s the straight cut gears... normal car's gears are cut with a degree (mostly 12-20°) to the axle. Straight cut: they are able to slide a tiny bit and this creates the sound. you`ll find this with most GT3 cars. They use it so you are able to upshift without clutching out which creates MUCH higher forces on the gearbox. Your reverse gear is also straight cut since it won´t interfere with the normal gearing & so you´ll get the same noise backing up your own car.
