I found your video interesting. I actually called Rode Tech support with this very question just a few days ago. They said if you run from a headphone output that you are going to get a mono feed only. Their recommendation was to use the L/R monitor outputs. I haven't tested it yet so can't verify your report of interference using it that way. I want to run XLR from the Rodecaster to a mixer on my DSLR.

I am doing a cover song , could I do with rode caster accompanied by a youtube karaoke music from computer or cellphone source & do recording for my cover song, & will there be resulting nice sounds with a little expected reverb & with a little echoe result upon my final recording song? Hear you around, right now watching da ROMA con AMOR!
@MarkYoungMedia3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Ok, you could record the backing music onto one of the sound pads on the rodecaster from your phone via bluetooth or trrs cable, then press record and press play the sound pad and use one of the 4 mic input to record vocals. You can also connect your computer via usb and record the backing music onto the rodecaster sound pad that way. Alternatively, you could connect your phone or computer, play the sound on either device and record on the rodecaster while singing into one of the mic inputs. But to answer your question quickly, yes it can be done.

Question: Can you use two outputs to two DSLR cameras....an A Role and a B Role? No sync.
@MarkYoungMedia3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I'm going to assume that yes you can as long as you have 2 spare headphone sockets to use as an output to the DSLR inputs. I'll test it out for you and let you know for sure 👍

Hi. That's a yes! I set up 2 Gopros and ran an aux 3.5mm cable from 2 headphone ports into the mic inputs of the gopro's and it worked fine. I had the gopro's audio set to "line in". Its trial and error getting the levels right with the gopro's because u cant monitor the sound going in, but if I was using my Canon 80D and Sony A7iii I would have been able to monitor through the camera. Hope this helps 👍

@@MarkYoungMedia Thanks Mark ! It helps a lot. Question: Is each headphone output jack dedicated to a specific channel?...or does each headphone jack contain all the elements of the mixer, like each headphone act as a master output...containing 4 channels , sound effects, and phone calls, etc.
@MarkYoungMedia3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, everything comes out of the headphone socket. A recent vid I posted I was doing new years eve phone calls with my daughter. That was recorded using a Gopro and a line out from the headphone socket and it recorded everything.

Why did the audio sound different from the DSLR to Note8 if the source was both from the soundboard?

Apologies for the very late reply. I haven't had much time to get on KZbin the last few months bar to upload some short vids. To answer your question, I just tested it with a Gopro hero 8 with the media mod, and it worked fine. I did have to go into gopro's settings and change the ext mic settings to "line in", then I did a few test vids to get the levels right as you cant monitor your sound on a gopro like you can with a few DSLR's and mirrorless cameras. The Gopro hero 9 has a sound graph when the media mod is attached, so that will give some indication. Hope this helps, apologies again for the late reply.

What type of cable are you using to connect the rodecaster pro to your dslr

Hi Andrew. I'm using a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable with a 3.5mm to 6.5mm adapter (the adapter you get with most headphones)on the Rodecaster end.

Can you run the setup you are using now and while interviewing etc. bring in a phone call live on bluetooth while using the camera setup/vlog?
@MarkYoungMedia4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Anything that I ran through the Rodecaster came out in the recording no problems. Because I was sending the audio out from the headphone socket, anything that can be heard on a set of headphones was heard on the Canon 80D's recording. Your second question: I have never used the saramonic wireless mics so I cant comment on them, but I do have the Rode Wireless go set. The inputs on the Rodecaster are 4 XLR inputs, a TRRS input and a USB input. Using the wireless go, I plugged the receiver into the XLR input using Rode's own XLR adapter. With this method i had interference. It was masked slightly because of the noise-gate settings but it was obviously there. I then plugged the receiver into the TRRS input using a standard 3.5mm AUX cable and it worked with no interference BUT I had to put the Wireless Go on full output level and turn up the channel on the Rodecaster fairly high but it still sounded fine. Hope this helps. Like and subscribe!! ;)

@@MarkYoungMedia have you found any other way to bring external wireless mics into the rodecaster pro without interferences?
@PRAISEGODMEDIA4 жыл бұрын
I connected the camera through a 3.5mm cable from the front of the rodecaster pro panel into the camera. The first time, every sound gets recorded. But, once I stop the video to listen and then try a second test the sound effects don't get recorded only my voice. I shut off the rodecaster pro and turned it back on. I did another test and all audio was recorded. I am frustrated because I do not want to shut off the panel every time I am about to record audio. This doesn't make sense.

You must be using a mono lead (one black strip) or you are using a 3.5 to 6.5 convertor that is mono rather than stereo.
