@@LittleMissFuneral It would be neat if you did a vlog of some of the cemeteries that are in your area and show some of the monuments aka tombstones. I go to historic Hollywood cemetery (Richmond VA-have some family members buried there). A lot of the tombstones are very old and made of materials that the tombstone makers can't get anymore.

I’m in a pre-nursing program and work as a nurse assistant. I love helping people but the way nurses eat each other alive and don’t support each other makes me hate it. Also in my class our teacher is a nurse and is constantly invoking the fear of messing up and losing your license. I’ve been VERY interested in the Mortuary Science program and the life of a funeral director. I love helping people, and like busy work, I can handle emotional people, I can handle deceased bodies and morbid ideas. I really think I would do well in this field. I have found some online courses for funeral service in terms of office, and basic laws. I’m wondering if that would be beneficial while I pursue school. Also is it possible to get an entry level job in the field and go to school as well? You’re a big inspiration, thanks for these!

I have a suggestion for you. If you have a fence for your dog,put a carbiner or something through the gate so your dog won't open it with his nose and get out.I had a black lab who would do that. Tell Keith to PUT ON HIS SEAT BELT! If he was in Virginia -he would be getting a ticket.

You mentioned in this vlog that one of the first things you do upon arriving at the funeral home is check the body of the deceased to see if they need any cosmetics/attention. What else do you all look for when you have a person who is in a visitation room from that time until the actual funeral/burial? Also, I've always wanted to ask a funeral director if they check for signs of life when a body arrives at the funeral home before the embalming process takes place?

WHY IS THE COFIN AWAYS CLOSE IN CHURCH DURING THE MASS
@LittleMissFuneral6 жыл бұрын
Dominic Badalamenti it depends on what religion a person is as to if the casket is closed. Normally the casket is closed and items are placed on the lid (a funeral pall is placed for catholic masses, flowers go on top a lot of time for christian services). When we do Orthodox funerals a lot of times the casket stays open in Church. We do whatever the priest/minister asks of us!

Hi, I LOVE your vlogs, I have a couple of questions though.... Im 21 from England and i aspire to be a funeral director one day.... Over here we don't have mortuary schools and usually funeral homes are a family run kinda thing... I can't get employment due to having no experience and I keep getting rejected from job applications. Im at a loose end as I don't know what to do. I have done A LOT of research in my spare time about funeral homes and the processes. I understand it'll be different over there but, do you have any advice for a young aspiring funeral director? Thank you. P.s - I love your vlogs, they're so genuine and real. Not fake or staged and I think when talking about such a taboo subject like death, it's important not to really sugarcoat things as it were. x
@ryantoler97196 жыл бұрын
Maybe a dumb question but what is the pall (lord knows I'm spelling that wrong)? You keep saying "we got the pall on", but what is that?
@LittleMissFuneral6 жыл бұрын
Ryan Toler not a dumb question! Most of the time I talk and don’t even realize the terms I use. A pall is a white cloth that covers a casket during a catholic mass. When we bring a casket into the church, we put the pall on it and walk out and wait till the end of the mass, when we take it off and process out of the church.

Is a Funeral Director ever allowed to take some time off for a well deserved vacation? Do you ever worry about burning out?
@LittleMissFuneral6 жыл бұрын
Treatmenice I take one vacation a year at least, last year I took two great vacations! It all depends on your employer. I have never had an issue taking a vacation where I work. I will also take a weekend off here and there if I have certain things to do. It’s just not a Monday-Friday job!
@LittleMissFuneral6 жыл бұрын
As for burning out , I worry about that all the time. I was VERY close to leaving the funeral profession about five years ago. When I feel myself really burning out I’ll ask for a day off here and there to relax. It all depends on how busy the funeral home is though! That’s why I try to leave AS SOON as my work is done.

@silentfades6 жыл бұрын
at the first part of the video when you were doing your make up there seems to be a pic over your right shoulder - what is it ?-- looks like a dog with a towel over his nose to me ? when you went to the cemetery after the mass - they have a chapel there ? then you bring the body to the grave ... does the family not go to the grave ? do they stay till the body is lowered ?i am not sure the purpose of the cemetery chapel .... we go straight to the grave site -have the benediction then family leaves except for family pall bearers then the body is lowered . thank you for your videos and wisdome
@LittleMissFuneral6 жыл бұрын
silentfades correct on the photo! It’s a dog with a towel and it says “me time” on it. We bought it because it looks just like our dog! And almost every cemetery will give the family an option if they have a chapel; families can go there or to the graveside for final prayers. Families can always come to graveside but sometimes they decide not to for various reasons. (I work in Buffalo, it’s cold and we have a lot of snow so during winter months families don’t go a lot. Or if the grave is far from the road and family members might have difficulty walking there)

the doctor when families first come in it’s very common that people can’t go up and view their loved one. I never push someone to view their deceased, but typically after some time they end up walking up to the casket with other family members who are there to support them. I think this is a very interesting question and I might do a video on it in the future!

I’m gonna be honest this is the second vid I have watched of urs and this is my feedback. I think I was expecting u to show us around to see a lot to talk about things that happen in ur job etc. What I felt I got and this isn’t being mean ok, was u talking about how tired U are often and watching u drive around in ur car and talk about what u have to attend over and over this vid and all while we are looking at how beautiful u r and how well u can do ur makeup ty. There’s not really any interesting or captivating moments going on so I was very bored. If it was me I think I would do less filming in the car and inform us on nitty gritty of the funeral industry like what Caitlin the other Funeral Director on YOU TUBE does give her a watch if u wanna see what I mean. Cheers no offence intended all the best
@LittleMissFuneral4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! I didn’t disclose it at this time but I was very pregnant in all of my vlog videos. That’s why I was always tired (we’ll, add that to working in a funeral home). I only posted about 5 of these, because I thought the same thing. All I am doing is driving and talking and they became repetitive for me. The reason why I’m just filming in my car is because I DID NOT have permission from my employer to film inside his funeral home. Therefore I could not show what I was actually doing that made me exhausted. (Dealing with families/working in bodies/wakes/funerals) I have watched other funeral directors on KZbin, some of my favorites being Kari Northey and Joèl Simone Anthony, who I recommend you watch as well because they are very educational and actively work inside funeral homes. I do thank you for your comment and feedback, because it’s nice to know the kinds of videos that people would enjoy.
