My issue is my pallet is so limited/narrow that I stick to the same known and trusted foods, & explore very little. Hence e.g following a recipe from a book is a scary thing for me since I will be leaving the outcome of my food to the mercies of the book!! More grace to you.

Hi my dear, I suppose that's hard then, for me I like to experiment with food from different countries, and challenge my pallet, I get bored very quickly of the same things.
