Hey, Galvain...I enjoy your videos. You seem genuine and sincere and you've got a great voice...could do well as a radio personality. :-) The YT folks I like to follow are travelers (some rv'ers, some vanlife'ers) who enjoy taking their audiences on adventures. I like videos 10-15 minutes long--I'm not crazy about the live streaming people are doing now. They last too long! I also follow folks who put out at least one video a week...that shows the "creator" is interested in their audience and followers. I think a home base is good to have, if nothing else than for the investment factor. My vote is for you to keep it. I'd LOVE to be at the RTR this year but that is not going to happen. I hope you take lots of vids there and I'd love to hear your assessment of the event. Have fun and safe travels. Rhonda :-)

👍🏻 I’m in a similar headspace as you. It is so difficult for me to leave my apartment. 😖 I’m taking baby steps planning my first car camping trips (with my subcompact Honda Fit and a $10 used tent) to music Festivals and the like. I am aiming for a 2-3 month trip from DC to the west for enigmatic nomad’s van build, the 2020 wrtr and rtr... and hope to be in a Prius before then.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Awesome! Good for you. Start small start cheap. You may hate it. You may love it. You will certainly find aspects and things you enjoy and others that you don’t. Take a stroll in a park. Sit on a park bench quietly and listen. Just quietly see how many sounds you can hear. It’s quite lovely. Honda fits are awesome with their magic seat!

Happy new year! Unless you rely on KZbin for income, then post whenever you feel like it. Having to meet a quota can take the fun and spontaneity out of it. The editing can be tedious but the more I do it the better and faster I've become and it's not such a chore anymore. Besides, I think it's better to not try to be too slick, it's good to maintain an amateur status. Your channel is growing so obviously you're doing something right.
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
I agree with all of what you said. The money I make on KZbin buys groceries for a week if I’m doing good that month ha! So it’s a labor of love. People seem to like at least some of what I’m doing so I’ll keep putting videos out whenever I can and call it a day!
@alicegoesnomad17075 жыл бұрын
Yup, no need to be slick. I like listening to you share. Save the editing unless visuals are a priority. ☮️

Happy New Year!! Love hearing the updates. I think whatever you feel comfortable with as far as editing, i do think it needs to be doable for you and never be a chore..so maybe starting with 1 a week, and maybe do shorter snippets on some weeks if needed? PS thanks for the shout out! 🙂

As a fellow introvert, I can relate to the tendency to "retreat to the cave" and "forget" to come out. I think my photography hobby will help me with that, when I hit the road. I'm growing less and less fond of social media (esp. FB), so my concerns are how to share my photos, if at all. As far as the KZbin videos go, I lean more to the "quality over quantity" side. You should do what makes YOU happy, whatever that might be. I think sometimes that people over share every moment of their lives, and yeah, I enable that by sitting for hours on end watching videos about vanlife.
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your candid and honest response. It is much appreciated. I’m with you on FB. instagram I think might be better for photos although as of yet I don’t use it. As far as frequency goes I think I’ll try to do two a week see how that goes. That seems like I should be able to put out two decent vids a week. If I can manage that for 3-4 months then I can revisit It. Again, I really appreciate the feedback. So easy for me to get in my world since I work all remote and go days without seeing a soul. What kind of photography are you into?

@@ChasinSimplicity You're welcome! I hadn't thought of Instagram, maybe I'll try that - plus, maybe my granddaughter will be more interested, and likely, to follow my exploits. I'm pretty interested in clouds, and timelapses of storms and other natural phenomena, landscapes, light painting, mostly. I wouldn't be opposed to documenting the nomadic lifestyle, if my people skills improve. ;-) What is it you do remotely, for a living? I'm now collecting SS, and would probably want/need to supplement my income, as needed & able, to maintain my chosen path. I've always loved the idea of working remotely, and will likely explore that down the road, so to speak.
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
Basically I made myself very valuable at my regular job and worked with them to create remote work. I field calls. Do books. Review contracts. Just have to have internet and phone from 9-5 est Monday through Friday! Let me know if you set up Instagram I would love to see your work. Utah has some great dark sky areas which would be phenomenal for photographers

Hey buddy! Thanks for being open and honest and sharing the stuff that you have. Your videos are great. You and I seem to be just alike with just the points you make about yourself. What my plans are to do is to get a small piece of useful property in elevation, in woods no more than (2 cleared acres) with a well on it and no people around at all, put an off grid Tiny home on wheels paid for or a cabin on skids, that way there is a break-in property taxes (you only pay tax on the land). That doesn't cost much to do and you are then good for when you need to get away from people and you would be self-sustaining for the long haul if you bought property that has good soil for a garden. I would put up a smaller outdoor structure with a roll up door for storage/workshop for building and an art studio. Then I would drive my Prius, Jeep, truck or whatever, right back to town and go rent the smallest efficient and inexpensive place that is in the middle of a major city near the things I like to do. This would help me stay in the mix of people, socialize and learn things, engage, which is very healthy for me. Like you said, you default to being alone and so do I. It just doesn't do anybody any good though. Once again thank you for everything you do, it's inspiring and motivating.

Can't believe the Prius made it through all that snow. I've been to Ashton ID on my way to the Tetons. You had a good year, looking forward to the changes and travels in 2019!! :) It would be great if you could post once or twice a week, but that might be to much between work, traveling and etc.
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
Appreciate you watching! It had been many years since I been to Ashton. The Prius did really well in the snow and the tires are not that great lol.

Lol, you calmed down on the 2nd drive...lucky that was a black dog tho', a white one would have been a gonner! I know what you mean about 4 walls boxing you in. I rent a room at the weekends (mostly to get my address situation up to date), and I am not at all productive when I'm there (just slouching around watching TV shows). If I could afford a condo I'd rent it out (maybe air b&b) and that would make sure I couldn't 'stagnate' there, because I would always have to be ready to move out for renters.
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
Had not thought of that. Great feedback I appreciate it. It’s weird I never thought it would make me so unmotivated. Part of that is obviously my own ability to overcome that. Yeah I had to slow it down once I got to Ashton due to the battery on the Prius running down lol

I totally understand the editing thing with You Tube...that's why I've never posted anything, it seems such an effort (+ I don't have a camera, which makes video production somewhat difficult...) I appreciate the effort the channels I subscribe to put in, so I don't like to pressure anyone, but I think a once a week video is great. I have limited access to the internet, so posting more often means I sometimes can't keep up, and I always aim to watch every video on my subscription list (which is also why I keep my list quite short)
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
Editing is the one area that can be cut down. Come up with an idea. Shoot it. Upload it to computer. Edit it. Create thumbnail. Put up video description. Upload and done. It’s a lot of stuff which I gladly do because some folks seem to like it. Once a week sounds very doable.

What vehicle did you pull your cargo trailer with? I was hoping to see more videos of your travel with it😩 but I’ll keep watching your journey. Always good advice. Wondering how you finance your travels. I go for quality over quantity...hate youtubers that ramble on and on...once a week is good.
@ChasinSimplicity6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Getting to the point is something I strive for and I think I get better at. I have changed how I travel so much over the years and now I’m trying something new. I pulled the trailer with a 4runner most of the time. Financing travels is done the old fashioned way. I work! I live debt free except my mortgage and I zero base budget so I always can figure out how to travel and have money for it. I work remotely via online and cell phone. During the week my travel is limited and only in cell phone areas. Great questions. I hope it helps

Just subbed. I've got a 2008 Prius and I'm looking to do some camping and traveling so it's cool to see what others have done. Posting and editing videos can be a drag. I dabble at KZbin at best. To grow though I hear you need to post as much as possible. Good luck with that. I'd say once a week is a solid start and maybe just vlog something unedited now and then. Well I'm going to check out some other videos of yours. Atb Sean
