Thank you so much to AJ Madison for partnering with me on a portion of this video :)
The guided Wim Hof breathing: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...
We’re settling into our new home in the suburbs and it’s been especially fun getting to experience it all in a new season. The weather is getting colder, the house is feeling cozier, and we’re building new routines to acclimate. Unfortunately, with the changing season came a household sickness that we’re currently fighting off, but I didn’t want that to stop me from recording this week’s vlog because I have lots of new home updates!
The kitchen, master bedroom, office, and dining area are sooo close to being finished. A lot of the furniture is in and I’m getting more and more excited to show you the final reveal of our house remodel SOON! For now, this video walks you through a few of the rooms, our new garden, AND the full kitchen remodel (before-and-after shots included).
At the end of the video, I’m chatting about my winter goals and some projects I have coming up so be sure to watch until the end if you want those updates! 🤗
CHAPTERS:
00:00-02:34 - intro
02:35-05:57 - homeownership & kitchen updates
05:58-08:42 - our new appliances
09:43-10:33 - bedroom, office, & dining area updates
10:34-11:55 - our garden
11:56-16:36 - my winter goals
16:37-17:20 - what’s coming up
At the start of the video, once I give the disclaimer about my congestion and the overall health update of our household, I cut to a quick video I had filmed a few weeks ago in our yard, back when my hydrangea bush was thriving (RIP 😢)
Once I cut to the video, I chat all things homeownership. As a new homeowner, I am starting to notice just how much of a responsibility home maintenance is. This is new for me, and I’m working on finding and incorporating better systems to stay on top of it all. I don’t feel like I’m very good at maintaining and caring for things-aside from my son 😂 So that’s something I’m striving toward in this new season of homeownership.
The kitchen was probably the biggest transformation in the house, so I’m beyond excited to share this remodel before and after with you. From the countertops to the cabinetry and vent hood, everything looks SO DIFFERENT and I am blown away by the final look. Once you watch, you have to tell me, what do you think of the faux cerused wood that was hand-painted to match the new cabinet fronts!?
A major homeowner blunder that we encountered (within the first week of living in the house!) was, despite our prior inspections, there were several major appliances that just weren’t working. We ended up working with AJ Madison to help us figure out what appliances we needed to replace. In the video, I discuss more about our experience with them and the products they helped us choose. They were extremely helpful and I can’t recommend them enough!
After the renovated kitchen reveal, I walk you through a few different room updates-the master bedroom, Michael’s office, and the dining area. Finally, I walk you through our outdoor garden! I worked with a local gardening business to get this set up and assembled and I’m thrilled with the result.
At the closing of the video, I share my goals for the winter season. As the weather is changing and we’re getting closer to transitioning into the colder months of the year, I have a few things that I want to prioritize for my health and overall well-being. I’d love to know, what are you going to be focused on this new season?
As always, thanks so much for watching!!

My biggest trick for the outdoor furniture is having the cushions live inside somewhere and then bringing them outside whenever you want to sit out there then bringing it back inside when you’re done. Not as easy as just leaving it outside, but it’ll definitely help maintain everything

Really cool idea with painting the old wood to look like the new wood! I didn't even know that was a thing. 🤯 Your kitchen looks amazing, love seeing all the progress!

Leave the covers on always and only remove when you are using the furniture. Or take off the cushions come fall and winter.

Enjoying this video on a calm Saturday afternoon in Italy! So glad to get some life updates from you Lucie as a follower since R29! Your videos are always so calm and full of positive energy ❣ The house is just amazing and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one struggling with sleep schedule (have the same problem with going to bed before midnight cause there are so many TV shows or books I'd like to enjoy before falling asleep ahahah). Big hugs from Milan!

Im sorry you are all sick with RSV. As someone who works in a children's hospital, I know how bad it can get. Lucy I know you want to enjoy your new and beautiful home to the fullest both indoors and outdoors. I live in MA and have learned that the best way for me to preserve my new outdoor cushions, which are white (ik ik), is to just set a date like beginning of nov and just winterize everything. The cushions come inside, covers get put on outdoor furniture, outside spigots get drained and all other things your house might need to be able to get ready for winter. I know we still get a few nice days here and there but it's really not worth the extra time and metal space to try and keep some outdoor spaces "open" after a certain time.

You do want to prune hydrangeas. You can prune it back pretty hard, a third of the plant or so, but at least prune it back. They grow on new wood, so if you don't prune the old stuff it will turn into a mangled mess in a few years. :)

Different types of hydrangeas require different pruning methods so best to determine what types of hydrangeas you have first. If you have a lot of different perennials, shrubs etc on your property it might be worthwhile to hire someone next year even just for an hour to help you identify everything and how to care for each plant in your yard.

In our upstate NY home, we just keep the furniture covered, unless we are currently sitting on it. It’s worked out best for us because outside furniture is so expensive! We just toss the covers into a deck bin then when we’re done for the day, cover them back up :)

Everyone has different standards, but i think it's completely normal for leaves to build up on outdoor furniture or for it to get wet when it rains. Maybe a solution would be to leave it covered unless it's actually in use? Then you don't need to worry about it day to day. The longer you're a homeowner, the less you'll care about keeping everything picture perfect at all times. Outdoor furniture is one of those things that's just not worth worrying about!
@bostonbound2323
@bostonbound2323 7 ай бұрын
agreed but also it depends how much $$$ you spent on outdoor furniture. People will care if they spent a good amount of money.
@erogers2687
@erogers2687 7 ай бұрын
@@bostonbound2323 agreed! It's also how much spent in relation to overall earnings. Another factor is how much the item is used. A lot of things to consider, but I think in general the reasoning still stands: some things around the house just aren't as important / not worth stressing over.
@luciebfink
@luciebfink 7 ай бұрын
It’s less about the cost and more (1) the mildew and muck build up and (2) the fact that, then when I go to use them, they’re all wet 😂😂😂

Since we're going into winter just store the cushions inside and if there's a random warmer day it's easier to put clean cushions in place. Mold can be really hard to clean and require bleach which can ruin the cushions. I love everything you've done so far and I would love a list of decor and items you've found. Glad Milo is better and RSV is definitely going around.@@luciebfink

Some people buy outdoor storage "boxes" and cushions can live in that. They make attractive ones that don't scream "storage box"

Hi Lucie! Hope you’re settling into your home well 💕 it’s so stunning. My husband, baby (who will be 18 months) will be visiting one of my childhood besties in New York City soon (she lives in Brooklyn). Do you have any advice for suggestions for parent/18 month old fun activities to do in the city?
