I’m so glad you mentioned the thing about circumcision, people get so angry when you bring up just the idea of it. I didn’t want to tell my family that we were having that done for our son because they were so appalled by it. Even one of my doctors was trying to talk my husband and I out of it. It really isn’t anyone else’s business and if you don’t know what to do, it can always be done later if that’s what is best for your family ❤
@betsybabf7485 сағат бұрын
I actually was going to post about this. Most people see videos of babies screaming during them and think it is torture. Not true! I had our 4 boys circumcised. I had seen those videos so spoke to my pediatrician, who was also a pediatric medicine professor at Harvard Medical so I fully trusted him. He explained the nerves in that area are not even fully connected until the baby is 2 weeks old, which is why most doctors prefer it done shortly after birth. It is not pain that makes the baby cry. They don't like the position of being strapped down and as any mother knows, they hate and will scream being naked the first 4-6 weeks of life. The way my dr did it is I was allowed in during the procedure. They were swaddled just the top half of their body so not feeling cold and naked, or strapped in an uncomfortable position. A topical numbing agent is used to avoid the cold instruments. None of my boys cried during it at all. Three of them slept through it, never waking at all. The one son who was awake was allowed to nurse through it as I bent over him, and he didn't even flinch when it was done. I saw for myself, they felt absolutely no pain at all. I'm very happy we chose to have it done with all of them.

We chose no birth control after some of ours, but know you are far more fertile after a birth, while nursing and right after stopping nursing. The reason is because as our bodies are getting back on a cycle, it's very common for us to release multiple eggs and to ovulate more frequently. More eggs released, more change of one being fertilized, and more chance of multiple being fertilized. We were open to another right away but then conceived fraternal twins while I was nursing an 9 week old baby! It is absolutely fine to have them back to back, confirmed by all my OBs and perinatologist, and I nursed our son throughout my twin pregnancy, but you have to be wanting or willing to risk one (or more) to go the no birth control route.

One thing I learned after my C-section was that walking and moving around is really good after birth and as soon as possible. My pp nurse got me up and moving within like 18 hours of my C-section and I’m so thankful they did. I was completely healed and in no pain my 2 weeks pp.

I hope you, Zac and Decker have a wonderful first Thanksgiving together! 🦃 I have raised 7 children (2 were fostered), and I had the youngest 3 baby boys in under a year (having one then twins only 11 months later, nursing them all). I always got dressed, did my hair & makeup every day. I know me. If I look like a sick day, I feel like it's a sick day. When I'm ready, I have more energy & get more done. My husband worked 14-16 hours a day so it was all me with 3 babies & 4 school-aged children. I needed energy! I had a skin care bag & a makeup bag hidden in a cabinet in my family room so I did it right there in the family room with all the babies in front of me. 🤣 The first 12 weeks with a newborn were always just called the 4th trimester.😀

I agree with your mom 1-2 is so challenging because with it come teaching and patience and trying to manage your own emotions plus the emotion of a toddler 😅 I currently have a four year old and an almost two year old. The first two years with my oldest were amazing. The two years since my second was born have been sooo challenging for me. I remember people telling me the newborn stage was the easy stage. I thought they were crazy but now I understand what they were talking about. Having a newborn is hard yes but keeping a newborn alive is easier compared to teaching and managing a strong willed toddler 😅

Decker is beautiful and so precious!! Everything you said about postpartum and newborn trenches is so true and I’m reliving my days when I was postpartum with my son 7 years ago 😂. Everything you talked about from pumping to giving him milk and the feelings you had to go to the doctor after having him is so incredibly true and I felt all those same feelings. God bless you Clancy, you are doing incredible as a mom and you look beautiful. Cherish every moment because life will get easier and as he grows you will get time and sleep back for yourself. You made the best decision to make it a priority to shower every day, such a simple thing but it helps boost your confidence and energy. I regret that I didn’t make that a priority back then. God bless you and your family. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃 🙏🏼

I agree, once my baby turned about two months, things got a lot better. Also I nursed her to sleep for 1.5 years and it was no problem to transition her from no milk before bed. Kids are wayyy more resilient than we think. I wouldn’t worry about any sleep association stuff until at least 5-6 months old.

Just something to consider. When babies fall asleep with milk in their mouths, that can cause damage to their teeth causing cavities. The milk pools. So if worries you, you might want to stop once he starts cutting teeth.
@SimplySmiley0411 сағат бұрын
I also had a 2 week check in postpartum in addition to the 6 week one. Thankfully the 2 week was virtual, but it’s more about catching 😅postpartum depression I believe. Also, you get more milk in the middle of the night because prolactin (the hormone responsible for making milk) is highest because 2am and 7am!

Not that I'm saying you should get on birth control but the reason they want to put you on it so quick is because even though you say don't worry I'm not even thinking about having sex at some point your hormones say otherwise out of no where and you are extremely fertile for the first few m9mths postpartum but it can be dangerous to get pregnant that soon for both you and baby.

Teaching a baby to self-sooth is a wonderful gift to give to your baby, and future sitters as well as yourself. Crazy to think teaching and equipping your baby is right out the gate. I had mine sleeping through the night at three months old allowing babies to cry not only strengthens their lungs but teaches them not to associate crying to your running to him every time. Sounds brutal but trust me this helps the baby so much. You'll find what works best for you all.
