I recall when my breakup happened, someone telling me how when the divorce was final I would want to celebrate. I thought she was nuts. She said "you likely think I'm nuts but you will see." she smiled knowing the future happiness that lay in store for me. I did not do a party but I did celebrate in my own way. The dysfunctional painful relationship was over. The stress of that over. There was no longer someone sucking the life out of me. I could relax and feed my sole and it was wonder. It was done. All over and I was free to live my life again. Celebrate is the right word for sure.

fixing the couch: get a basic iron on patch and put it under the fraying fabric of the couch with the sticky part facing the fabric. use some parchment paper between the iron and the couch to not get any sticky residue on the iron. iron the patch on. this should reinforce the edge which is fraying and you should be able to use the invisible stitch without a problem :) i hope this works
@canna86762 жыл бұрын
important detail: put the patch UNDER the fabric, not on top. or it won‘t be invisible
@MichelJanse2 жыл бұрын
Oh this is brilliant!!!! Thank you!!!
@aksez2u2 жыл бұрын
@@MichelJanse Honestly, I'm afraid that won't work. The fabric is thick enough that the heat won't penetrate to the adhesive on the patch, and if it's synthetic, it might even melt! I'd do something similar, but maybe tuck a piece of gray fabric under and then sandwich some fabric glue in there, no heat needed.
@tmmc52 жыл бұрын
Was just going to comment this! If you are concerned about the couch fabric itself melting, you can cover with a cotton towel while ironing. The heat will penetrate through the towel and couch fabric to the patch. Good luck 💖
@aksez2u2 жыл бұрын
@@tmmc5 That would help with the fibers melting, but I haven't had good luck with iron on patches unless I apply HIGH heat directly to the back of the patch or fabric on the other side. Even then, they don't hold well. Maybe others have had better luck.

Michel you are doing amazing with your life situation. I got separated in 2013 and my divorce…which was my ex’s idea…was final in 2015. I had a divorce party and it was fabulous! ;) There is something about getting the actual notification that it's all done that helps with closure and for me, it was as if I opened a window and all this bright fresh air came pouring in. 🥰 SO many blessings are coming. I'm convinced this was God's way of knocking you off the wrong path and placing you on the right one. Trust. 🧡 Also, my vote is to wear the skirt higher and have it taken in...SO cute!! A couch cover maybe? The only way to stitch that together is to pull the fabric over until you have the unfrayed part and stitch that to the seamed part...but no guarantee it won't fray further, especially if Max continues to do the same thing in that spot. Could you maybe use iron on fabric to run down the stitched seams in a slightly different color to contrast....might look that up on KZbin though, not sure how durable that would be with Max. 💁♀

When I got divorced it was devastating to me to know I had given my all to this man who discarded me and our family. It almost broke me into a million pieces. I went to therapy feeling like a complete failure and the therapist told me: I wasn’t failure because I did and gave it my all, to be a failure I had to have not tried at all. I let that set in and realized how truly I couldn’t do it all by myself and God gave me the strength to heal and let it go. You will get there my sweet friend! 💗🤗

It’s really hard to say how to deal with the grief of loosing the relationship it’s can feel like a death. I struggled but went through therapy and it did help. @butterfly-kb4cn2 жыл бұрын
@@blueseptember2174 my name is Sheila and unfortunately I made so many mistakes in marriage. Not understanding how a healthy relationship should be and marrying too young. I had a traumatic childhood with an alcoholic abusive father and codependent mother. I married a man I didn’t even really know just to get out of my home right after graduation. He had addictions that he wouldn’t get help for and I was just supposed to be the loving doting wife. Which I was up to the point I feared for my baby and I realized I couldn’t change him and he wasn’t going to change himself. I remarried, a man I knew before my first husband out of fear of being a young mother no college education and low and behold he is an alcoholic by now I’ve become my mother except I didn’t stay in it and wait for the physical abuse to start. Now I have two children age 4 and 6 working two jobs and spending every moment I had with my kids. I met my third husband and he was my knight in shining armor, he love bombed me and treated me like a queen until I found out everything he ever told me about his life was lie. He started treating my kids horribly and I found out he was talking to other women online and text. This is after 10 years of marriage. I say all this to say I felt discarded in each of my marriages I gave everything in me to them until it broke me. I swore I would never be my mother. I was so bitter and angry in my last marriage and to realize I couldn’t fix it, how could break me into a million pieces after all I had been through and he swore he would never hurt me. It took me probably around 6 months after to let go and realized he never truly loved me and I never loved myself. I was so unhappy living with a man telling me how he couldn’t wait until my kids were grown and begrudgingly resenting my kids. So we could live our lives without his helping me raise them. One day I had to realize my low self esteem and inner hatred of who I was, kept me tied to a man that didn’t really love the way I should be. First off I had to realize I had to love myself and know even if I die alone at least I can be true to myself. I know this is a lot of personal background but if it can anyway help you I hope you can see that you are important! Look deep into yourself and your pain realize it is apart of you but not all of you. Know you are worth loving and do whatever hobby or anything that you enjoy doing. Find inner strength and learn new boundaries for yourself. I look back and I still have pain and I still struggle I’m only human but today I do know what my worth is. I hope this helps you in anyway possible. And I hope you find some peace.

little late to this vlog but regarding the couch. Since the hole is large enough you could think about placing a patch of matching colored fabric underneath the tear and then sewing the frayed fabric to that. I've done this. It will probably extend the life of your couch for a bit but lose woven fabric with pets is hard to maintain. Velvet withstands better with pets that like to scratch. The other option is getting a cover for the couch since it sounds like you don't love the color anyways. Not sure if you could get a custom one or not or have a handy friend who could make one. Most couches are basically boxes of fabric. I hope this helps. Thanks for sharing your journey. .

For the couch, there is something called fray check that basically glued the frays together! However, if max likes to lick or bite the couch, I would maybe double check on that just cause I wouldn’t want him to get sick! But the fray check is a super easy and cheap fix for fraying and it’s what I use on my clothes whenever I have sewed!

There's clear sewing glue you can get to reinforce the where it's tearing. It'll change the texture a bit obviously, but if it's only that one line and he always scratches the same place, that might not matter to you. And it'll be more durable while you decide what to do

Holy cow!!! Your sister looks exactly like your mom! So much so that I don’t normally comment on posts but felt compelled to on this. I hope that’s ok to say. While I’m here I have to say I am enjoying watching your new season…your new journey. I’ve made major solo moves a few times, one to Los Angeles as well, and I am a traveler by nature so it’s fun to watch you going through the excitement of firsts. That was always my favorite part. Finding new places, navigating new areas and territories. I was sad to see you forced into this season, my heart broke for you, but watching you own your journey and thrive in this new environment speaks volumes to you as a person, but also Gods plan for you in this time. I am a true believer in the fact that we are in God’s will even though we don’t always know, or understand at the time, what that is. I find it is usually always revealed in time, but either way have faith in knowing that you are in the place you’re suppose to be, in the time you are suppose to be there, to have those experiences and learn those lessons that will shape the next phase of your life. Everything always happens for a reason. 😊😁

REGARDIN YOUR SOFA, this is the only thing you can to ....go to a fabric store and pick up a small swatch of material that is the same or similar to the material of the sofa. While you are there ask for some double sided adhesive (iron on). Cut the adhesive slightly small then the piece that you will be using to cover, so you can turn edges under and be blind stitched down. Iron down the patch while make sure the edges are turned under. The blind stitch around the patch. If you can not get a piece of material from the fabric store, contact the company the made the sofa, and see if you can get a swatch big enough to do the repair. I am a tailor, and I have do this very thing with chairs, benches, coats and jackets. It should work well. The only other thing that you could do is have the sofa re-upholstered.

Michel, every divorce, no matter if it’s even agreeable, goes through mourning. It’s the death of a marriage relationship.

You know your quick fix on the sofa is just a bandaid. So start researching online for you inevitable new furniture purchase. Treat this as a long term investment and look for durable fabrics. Go to reputable furniture stores to ask questions about the construction, the styles, and available fabrics. In the late 1980’s I purchased a custom living room set, which meant I picked the furniture design, chose the fabric, and waited for it to be made to order. I chose a tapestry upholstery fabric. It was beautiful and very durable. I finally replaced that set this year. It lived through rambunctious children, unruly pets, and sloppy people eating in the living room on a regular basis and it still looked like new (I did replace just the seat cushions after about 15 years because they were beginning to flatten and were no longer supportive). I made the new purchase because the couch frame had become loose and creaky after many moves. For this recent purchase, I did not pick a tapestry and I already regret it (this fabric has a bit too much stretch and it wrinkles). Take your time and pick the furniture design and fabric that you love because it should last a long time.
