Could you do a routine for acne? Like what order you would use Azelaic acid, salicylic acid, tretinoin, niacinamide,and alpha arbutin. And can you use all of those at the same time?

Has a causal relationship ever been established between gum disease/health and diabetes/heart health? Seems obvious that people who don't care about oral health would also not care about other aspects of their health, but genuinely curious to know.

fellow dentist here! you're absolutely right! especially a lot of research has been done showing the direct relationship between gum health and diabetes! controlling either one also improves the other. best wishes to all other dentists out there during these times.. we are so high risk being in such close distant to people's mouths so most work has halted. i'm still treating emergencies though so the anxiety is very present! stay sane and safe folks :)

For anyone in the UK, you are able to get a prescription for Finacea 15% Azelaic Acid from The Independent Pharmacy, an online service where you fill in a questionnaire, upload photos of your face/symptoms, and this is reviewed by a dermatologist who can approve prescription where appropriate and the cream/gel is sent next day delivery. This saved on trying to get an appointment with a GP (anyone in London knows how hard that can be) also saved on the cost of having an actual appointment with a Dermatologist which was not in my budget at this time, although under normal circumstances I would prefer to have that 1:1 time with a Derm! I just started on my 15% Azelaic Acid and I am seeing better results than with my previous version from The Ordinary 10%.

Hey, Y'all, I wanted to give a shout out to The Ordinary's 10% Azelaic Acid Suspension which over the past 4-6 weeks has done more to "de-angry" my lower face than any other product in recent memory! I do use it only at night and on top of Klairs Calming Blue cream because my skin is such a big dang baby but still I can see about a 50% reduction in redness on the left side of my mug and @ 65% reduction on my right side (oddly, my sleeping side.) @@delcycallacondo6039 I have not had any purging with this product nor any peeling -- I think the moisturizing formula really helps keep skin from overreacting. It contains a touch of BHA as well as my beloved colloidal oatmeal (many thanks to Dr. Dray for educating me @ that amazing inky!) There is definitely a connection between your mouth and your body and body systems. I have lupus. One thing that my rheumatologist has me do is use a water pick every night and get cleanings every 3 months. I definitely see a difference in my levels when I have missed a cleaning, have a cavity, etc. I also notice a difference in the acne around my jaw, etc when I’m not keeping up on my dental care.

Hi I would avoid hyaluronic acid as it really needs moisture in the air to draw from, whether you spritz over and under still isn't enough. Glycerine, urea and beta glucan work well for my very thirsty skin and we use a lot of central heating in Scotland most of the year. I only use HA in the Summer when the humidity is higher here. Happy Saturday, dear Dr. Dray! Hope that your sweet mom's treatments are coming along well. Missing her sweet face, and of course Tybeeeee. Dr. Dray, question: With consistent use of Rogaine, do you recommend using any sort of clarifying shampoo? I don't know if it causes buildup. Thank you, sweet Doc. Hugs from NJ xoxo

Differin destroyed my skin. It made my face breakout way worse then it was and it left me with erythema. Could azelaic acid be the answer? I’ve been thinking about it for awhile. Also I finally just found some bleach finally! You’re definatly not wrong about the gums causing health problems... it can literally kill you! It’s scary! Love as always 💕

You mentioned not using antibiotics for a long period. Can you elaborate? What are you supposed to do when you stop using one of the antibacterial topicals? Are we supposed to keep switching between different ones? No other doctor has mentioned this to me, so I've been using some of the same prescriptions for years!

Dr dray Is azelaic acid a tyrosinase melanin inhibitor and Is it good to fade old post inflammatory hyperpigmentation on dark skin ? can you use it with adapalene 0.1% in the evening and use another tyrosinase melanin inhibitor in the morning ? What strength azelaic acid to fade old post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and will you get a rebound in hyperpigmentation if you stop using it ?
@CocoaButterOil
@CocoaButterOil 4 жыл бұрын
No you won’t. Unless you have acne and they leave PIH again. Dr Dray recommend prescription strength 15% and 20% as research backing up their efficacy were done with those percentages. You can reduce the chance of PIH using azelaic acid. I use azelaic acid during the day and tretinoin at night. I find using them both at the same time irritating. You could also do use each on alternate days too.

Bad Feminist I don’t have acne but have post inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to an allergic reaction to hair removing cream and after all these years the PIH is still there , I have ethnic skin and would like this faded at the same time Inhibiting melanin .

I would love it if Finacea were available OTC too. With insurance, generic 15% Finacea cost me $335 for one tube 😥. I decided just to use 10% azelaic from Paula's Choice for a fraction of the cost. The Ordinary azelaic is good too, except I don't like their formula under makeup or sunscreen, so only use it at night.

Hey Dr Dray - love your channel! 🤗 Would it be too much to ask you to put together a skincare routine using the drugstore products for different skin types? ( setting up the groups on a table, talk about each group - the procedure of your recommended products). When watching all the great product recommendations, I can get confused as to how and when to use them ( ex. For anti-aging. What products. Cleansing and moisturizer ... etc. what’s best for the am routine. Pm routine. Once a wk or month. what to use for the wrinkles forehead , corners of month, smile lines, crows feet. When do you apply that. Sunscreen). Love your pink heart cooking pan! All your material is very good. I’m learning about skin and products. Love your humor too. 😄
