i'm pretty sure they did confirm this song is their way to interact with the crowd since as a band they avoid doing it, so the chorus where he asks something and the crowd answers has just that goal the ich will being said over and over, like a lot of rammstein songs that feature a short phrase you can remember and repeat easily, are probably there to be something all the fans from around the world can sing along

Yep, but I didn't necessarily want to state that as a fact without source. Agreed though! :)

I love using this song to tutor my German students. And also it's just a killer classic Rammstein song. :) The first time I saw R+, I was on the side of the stage closest to Paul when they played Ich Will. It was the first time they were back in Massachusetts since their arrest the last time, and it was a small venue. As a call and response, I was happily yelling back every line for the crowd, and Paul happened to look ever at me and give me thumbs up. A silly thing, but it made my night.

Great video. I'd love to have a vid on Mutter. I don't know if it's my lack of understanding or Till's poetic lyrics but it's a bit hard to understand. Prost from the US!

Dave, could you do a video on Waidmanns Heil, please? In fact, I did an English translation of it myself, as I did with some of my other Rammstein favourites, but this one proved really tricky :( PS. In your videos, you at times sound better than Till himself 😀

It would be great if you would do an actual translation! I know that German is a bit backwards in its mother tongue. How is anyone to learn if you change it to make sense to us. I already struggle with words and their different meanings lol
@HDB3163 жыл бұрын
English is the backwards,

This is an actual translation. He demonstrates a few different ways the same phrase could be translated. This is actually MORE helpful than doing the most basic translation every time because it gives a better perspective into what a person might actually mean when they're using those phrases. If you want "Rammstein translations for dummies" just Google their lyrics. They all show up with English translations built in.

Kinda disappointed to learn what i thought was a commentary on the superficiality and hollowness of fame is really just a stadium chant :/
